I believe that is what the factory used to lift the engine/ trans assembly into the car on the line .

I have a question for this photo and I dont mean to hijack this issue but what is the smaller arm for inbetween the two red circles?  My shifter linkage is attached to the longer one but the shorter one just does nothing.  Whats it for?

Thanks and sorry again for taking over the issue, The photo was just wanted I needed to track down my question.  :2thumbs:

The smaller one is for your kickdown linkage it regulates the pressuer internally, as the pedal goes down this lever is being pulled on which tells the tranny when to shift into passing gear in auto mode..

The bosses with holes were originally used to hold the case in position for machining, a couple of them have been used over the years for linkage brackets and wiring clips but that wasn't their original purpose.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

Better get that throttle linkage hooked up or you're trans will be toast.

My 727 is hanging from those bosses as we speak while I am sorting out a few things.. They were also used on the assembly line to carry and load the trans..

Does look like what I need?  I had no idea what that thing is for.  I am in the middle of getting my transmission rebuilt and want to get this fixed as well when i get it back in.
