Front Roof Pillar to Body Interface Question

As I stripped the paint, I found this area that seems to be a soldered or tinned over interface point.  I ground out the rust, put rust converter on it as belt and suspenders and was going to just fill it over with JB Weld or body filler.  Before I did that, thought I'd post some pix and ask for any advice or lessons learned out there.  Thanks!
Plans are useless; planning is indispensible.
Especially with an old car!

That's the factory seam for the A pillar and it was filled with lead.

Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

I'd want to be 110% sure there was no rust left before putting any filler over it. Be a shame to have it boil out in a couple years.

Another question.  Do I have to re-fill it with lead (zinc?) or can I use JB metal or body filler?  I'm also considering welding on a piece of sheetmetal, grinding it flat and then filling over it.  Thanks in advance for the advice guys.

In that particular spot ,Duraglass or any fiber rienforced filler will work fine. Where the roof meets the 1/4 panel is another story though, use lead there or it will shrink and show up on a hot day. If you are installing a vinyl top it wont matter as much though.

DO NOT USE JB WELD. It is not designed to work with other autobody materials and could cause problems.
