Hi Everyone,
I just joined today. I recently bought the Q5 Daytona that was previously owned by Charles Self and Ed Cook. I was just wondering if anyone is familiar with the car and has any additional info about it. I understand it to be 1 of 3 made but some articles I have read state that there were possibly 5 made. I am also trying to locate any old pictures of the car if anyone has them. Any help is appreciated!! Thanks!

Love that color.
This is the one with the black interior or white?

Do you plan on taking it to any shows this season?

Coronet440

This one has the black interior. I may take it to Carlisle.

Coronet440

The man that I bought it from also just sold the one with the white interior to a guy in New York a few months back. It was cool seeing them sit side by side!

So every time this gets brought up it makes me think, just how many are there. I had heard at one time there was 7 but I can not think of all of them. Drives me crazy.
2 that were at Daisy's. one in Ohio. One in Illinois. One still in California I think with tan interior. Are there any more?

The beauty of it all is, unless we have a time-machine or a certified Master List with George Wallace's name on it, we'll never really know the true count..... So, we always have that to look forward to, not knowing......  :icon_smile_big:

I've never heard the "7" number, though that doesn't mean it wasn't batted around or isn't true.  There were three "known" cars, and it was the IL car which was the third one, known years ago through urban legend.  Obviously the two Daisy's cars were the ones everyone had seen, and when my friend's surfaced here in OH, it was the 4th of 3.  The CA car was known to be orange before the owner posted the fender tag here a year or two ago, making it the 5th of 3.

It would be interesting to know who came up with the 7 figure, as it would be cool to know if there were more or if it was an extrapolation based on known cars.

The original engine and transmission were long gone and replaced by a 340 and 727. When the current owner bought the car many years ago, He drove it to Illinois from Georgia powered by the smallblock! The pedal was likely changed when the engine and trans were replaced.
It is a real 440 4-speed Q5 daytona

Congratulations on the purchase.  They must have come down to reality on the price.  They tried every trick in the book with shill bidding on eBay to scam someone into purchasing it at their inflated prices, luckily no one fell for it.  Good luck.

This was pre-Dave when Marleau Borsack (sp?) owned it.  My buddy did a bunch of work on the car when he owned it, and he's the one driving.
