It was in street machine mag. in the late 70s.
Previously owned Daytona XX29L9B423239 - f8 - white int. - power windows.

To bad it wasn't in color. That's a wild looking stripe up the side of that car.

Those NASCAR/TA exhaust tips are pretty wild too.

Nothing really special about it other than oh maybe it being a Daytona and having a HEMI. Other than that its just like the other 503 of them.  :icon_smile_big:

Heck I'd take any of them, doesn't matter to me if it was a AT on the column, I just want a wing car, they are all special and unique in their own ways.

Seriously Strat - look at the car.  It looks like it has no wheels and tires on it.  I wasn't kidding when I agreed with MH that it looked odd.

I am in the Fresno/Clovis area also & have never seen this one around. In fact, to my knowledge, there are only a few winged cars in the area unless there are others hiding somewhere.

69_500

I would say that it is hiding. It is out there, not sure if it still wears the same paint scheme or not, but I know that it did for a very long time.

Only thing I noticed in that picture is the one Daytona without a tail stripe.

Yeah - that orange road chicken is down in the weeds for sure. And look at the fortune that was made by guys doing factory resto paint jobs on those cars three decades later. ;D

In 1975, you could do that kind of thing with out fear of reprisal. The picture made the local newspaper back then.

I think that's an awesome pic!! Proves once again that those wings are strong.

It looks like that might be a female on the blue one on the back row, wearing all green. :scope:

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

JimShine

Yeah, I would say those wings are strong. Look at the one in the back row, far left. That dude is beefy!

It's not lowered.  I had to clean up the picture and went a little too far with the editing tool, I guess.  Actually that is three instamatic photos spliced together.

69_500

Hey Doug, question for you about that pictures.

Wing car in the front row all the way to the right, is that actually a Charger 500 with a nose cone and a wing? Just for some reason that idea pops to my head when I see that picture. Especially with it being silver.

No that is Joe Machado's Daytona.  Real deal car.  Greg Peck in Washington now owns it.  I think xx29 mentioned it earlier up the thread.  Joe drove the car to Huntsville from southern Cal in 75 and in 76.  As a matter of fact, that Daytona might have the most driven cross country trips as Joe used to take to Daytona for the 500.  I think its got over 200k on it.  It is gorgeous now.  R4 car.   Joe painted it silver and put the long ram manifolds on it with the 68 round marker lights.  That car is one of my two favorite street Daytonas of all time.  Radkes Petty Blue Hemi Daytona is the other.

Aero426

Here is another photo of the Keith Black car from that 1975 meet.  I took this photo Sunday afternoon back at the hotel after the race was rained out.

69_500

Thanks for the update Doug. I just looked at it and for some reason the first thing to come to mind was the HEMI 500 that was painted Silver with a wing and a nose cone that I believe was owned by a Mr. Underwood back in that time frame of 75-79.

nascarxx29

Thats silver 500 sounds like the old Ed Chappel car from Minnesota or NC .138602.It was a silver 500 .Done as a 69 daytona and was a original hemi 69 500

Yeah that is the one I was thinking of Dave, I just saw the car in the photo and that car came to mind.

ChargerHound69

I also live in the Fresno/Clovis area and I have only seen one Daytonna, and it is white with the red stripe.

I guess it could have been painted.   I have not seen it in awhile though.

ChargerHound69

Well, I went by where the daytonna used to sit, and it is gone.  Someone must have bought it.
