The 1 to 2 shift is way to quick

Is there any way to adjust the shift point for second gear alone? Adjusting the throttle kick down will move both shift points.
At light throttle the 1 to 2 shift comes in about 10 to 12 mph, the 2 to 3 comes in around 30 mph. Is this a bad thing?

Depending on the gears, with 3:23's you want second around 20 mph and 35 mph. I will be digging out my shop manual later.

Yeah, what gears are you running?  My car shifts about the same as yours...

Mine shifts  at about 12mph (3.55 axle)  20-25 for 3rd with a light throttle, and OD when I flip the switch.

I think to change just the 1-2shift requires valve body work. :shruggy:

I have been following that thread. It made me question my shift points. Quick shifting 1 to 2 like it does gets the rpm's down quicker. I am just worried about hurting the tranny like that.

More I think about, the more I thinking I am remembering incorrectly.  :scratchchin: Until a few weeks I had not drive a old Mopar for 8 years. :scratchchin:

I might be remembering the kick down points and not shift points. I will read the factory manual today and up date an mistakes.

The OP's shift points are actually higher than factory spec....most performance orientated drivers don't like them that low.

I read that quick shifts can burn the clutches and do bad things. That is what made me question the shift points. Under heavy throttle it shifts very well. Don't remember exactly at what points?? According to the above chart, the closest I can get to my set up is the 340/383, with 3.55 gears, which is about the same power I am making except I have 3.91's, chart shows 1-2 shift at 6-10 mph, at closed throttle for whatever that means, light throttle maybe? Seems I may be okay?

John, what year is your manual? Mine seems to be a 72. (still has 6 Pack listed) and shift points are a tad higher.

Two things stick me odd.

HP motors shift at lower speeds and there are no RPM's listed?  :shruggy:

Notice that the HP cars have lower axle ratios, that's why they shift earlier...the transmission only knows road speed, not engine rpm.

Some HP applications like the Hemi and 6-pack have high speed governors which skew the shift points.
