So lately I have noticed so many "numbers mtching" cars out there for sale. Specifically wingcars. Take for example this superbird on Ebay. To me the fender tag looks like a reproduction. Its the wrong color (so close but not nearly close enough) and its held on by the wrong screws and they are shiny and new.

Then there is weird crap like a lot of people "restamping" their blocks.

It says clearly that the block has been restamped in Galen Goviers report. At least the guy isn't boasting it numbers matching.

Whats your guys thoughts?

I agree......I looked for a Bird for a few years and just about every one was numbers matching. I am sure some of them were but the bodies were in need of a lot of work. Oddly enough the one I purchased is not and it did not bother me too much as the car is still awesome. I have been into GM muscle for years and when I put up my numbers matching big blocks for sale no one saw real value or were willing to pay more. Everyone wanted it for nothing.

Our tag on the B5 car doesn't match either, but that's a case of dumbassitis.  We forgot to get it sprayed when the paint on the car went down.  I'm sure they've been forgotten about more than a few times.

I did a hack job painting my screws, though  ;)

Speaking of data plates...I recently riveted the data plate on my bird. Started thinking about how quickly someone could steal it at a car show or cruise night while parked.

Normal is an illusion. What is normal for the spider is chaos for the fly.

On our '68 Coronet I attached the fender tag with machine screws that were double nutted on the underside.  That would prevent someone from quickly removing it while at a car show or display.
