Looking good Troy, but I have to ask about the elephant in the room, pun intended. Whats up with the Bee in the backround?

Hey everyone...

Here's a link to my recent project to the Daytona not related to the Elephant....

Project taillamp-panel-repaint

Envy,
the Elephant is going into the Daytona soon....... I may start this weekend with getting the car ready for the 440/727 removal....

That's looking great! The headers are a wise choice and you'll never see them once installed.

I think that was the only item I bought that I could save some $$, going with the chrome ttis instead of the ceramic.

I like the ceramic as that's what I always buy.  But as Runner alluded to, you never see them once the motor is between the fender wells & a person can see the chrome glistening every once in a while shooting out from below.

Well done so far Mr. Troy.   :2thumbs:

Update:
Just got off the phone with Finelines...... Because I bought complete brake and fuel line kits about a year ago, the fuel line and master cylinder lines are for a 440. So, now I need to get the outboard master cylinder to distribution lines and the 3/8 front to rear fuel line...... Everything else in the kit will work........

I think this weekend I'm going to roll my sleeves up and start the process to remove the 440/727/kmember...

Yesterday, rearranged the garage exchanging parking of my friend's Superbee and my Daytona. Here's where I start today. Front suspension is pretty much out if the way. I will remove the lower control arms and torsion bars, exhaust, then position the dolly under the kmember and tranny. I will get the cherry-picker so I can lift the front of the car high enough to slide the drivetrain out

Whew !!!!! What a stressful operation out of one's garage. I was able, after a couple of trails and "well, that's not going to work" and a VERY slow-going mode of operation, to successfully remove the 440/727 drive train.. I was extra anal and slow about it all. I would assess a situation, come up with a solution, complete the task and clean up. I found keeping a clean and orderly workfloor made for a less chaotic event. There were a couple of times I wondered, "What the heck am I doing?" Shoot, one of the steps to remove the steering column, as easy as a task it is normally, turned out to be a big pain in the butt. Dang lock pin was NOT going to come out easily.... But, I prevailed..  One observation will be to get lower profile casters so the dolly won't be so high.... Now, time to replace fuel and brake lines, remove/replace brake booster ( hemi-version ) and etc.... I will separate the 727 soon and have it rebuilt. I am tired !!!! Church, lunch with the family, and 440 removal,, the end of a busy day.....

more of the removal.

Two things that helped; removal of the passenger side exhaust manifold and carbs ( the former so I have more lateral room and the later so I don't have to raise the Daytona even higher......

Yes, the arm of the cherry picker was close to the nose's top surface and core support. But, as I raised, I readjusted the arm/jack as needed...... Worked out fine... I was just overly cautious....... It was as stressful as a bomb-squad rookie snipping his first red wire on a nuclear bomb.....

Lordy !!! I am glad that's over............... I do believe going backwards installing it will be easier........
You'll notice the GearVendor unit on the 727.........

sorry Troy no personal experience of fitting a mini starter on mine ,
did think about getting one long time ago when they were hot news in all the mopar mags ,
call me crazy  , but  prefer the old mopar starter sound :P ,
have read , seen , & spoke to guys who have fitted them ,   some types of mini starters , need some of these  modifications ,  block grinding , positive battery terminal modifications , although this was a long time ago , & the starters might be different now  :shruggy:
having said this , if I was still running headers or decided to put them on again  ,   think I would consider a mini starter !  :scratchchin:

Oh, there's no option, I have to go with a mini-starter with the TTI headers I'm going with. I was curious if your good-ole late model starter (what we call mini's) would work. If so, I would just go down to my local auto parts store and get one ordered against my '98 Dodge Ram SS/T..... That starter is the original one and has never given my any problems...

Operation 426-Hemi: assessing the engine bay

Today had some time after work to crawl under the nose and assess the engine compartment. It is real solid and that is great. While there, I removed the power brake booster to make room for the new Hemi-specific booster ...assembly. As you can see from the plug, a previous owner installed a/c. Wonder how that worked out. This weekend I hope to have the 727 separated from the 440 and off to the tranny shop. I have a lot of detailing to do, but that's fun. I will start removing all the fuel and brake lines soon for replacement of FineLine line kits.. As one can see, I'll need to swap out the master cylinder firewall backing plate as well ( just dawned on me when I did this ).. The Hemi-Booster assembly requires the manual brake version of this backing plate... Looks like I've found one, thanks to those replying to my wanted-ad.
