Nope: per vehicle description on ad.

Vehicle Color(s) Hemi Orange and White

It is just an original R6 red car that was painted V2.....

Steve's car (390013) had a black tailstripe.  This one is the Mr. Norm's (379751) car that ran through Mecum in October of 2007.

Yeah, but when RK repainted the car after buying it from Steve, I do believe that changed the stripe to white.

This was a photo I have which is dated 2008 (can't guarantee that's when it was taken - just when I saved the file), which is also when I had RK logged as having it listed for sale.  It's certainly possible RK changed the stripe to white later on, as I don't know when they repainted it or where it went after they sold it.

The other R6 photo with the guardrail is definitely of the Mr. Norm's car... I saved a copy back then too since it's a really cool photo.  Seems like that was from the Mecum auction listing.

I didn't know that BoS / RK had changed out the stripe on Steve's former car, so that's news to me.

I haven't come across one yet, Danny.  Doesn't mean there isn't at least one out there somewhere.

69_500

Well I know there is one out there somewhere. I just have not located it since my dad sold it in the mid 80's.

Hi Larry,

Did the Mecum folks inadvertently use your photos when advertising the Mr. Norm's Daytona for their St. Charles auction back in October of 2007?  While I could certainly be wrong, I'm pretty sure I nabbed those photos from the website in their listing of the R6 car back then.  Troy must have done the same thing I did, since we both had that logged as a R6 car.  As of this morning, the Mecum archives still have the narrative and the auction results (high bid of $225k with no sale), but the original photos are no longer linked.  Maybe they realized they were of a different car??

I stand corrected.  Still love the photo backdrop/setting and the car!

held1823

three words can accurately describe mecum's attention to detail- lawn mower car...

the first two photos are the mr norm's car. it is missing the a-pillar trim, and has an r/t emblem between the tail lights. the last shot is another view of larry's car, showing the charger script.

i still vote for parting out larry's car; the front end pieces would look great painted blue. it would also help end the confusion about the different shades of red. a win-win situation, for everyone.

it sold new at Suburban Dodge, in Shillington, PA, and was car #69 on the ship list. allow dave time for his morning coffee, and i imagine most of the ownership trail will pop up.

welcome aboard. this is definitely THE place to come, for wing car information.

smart move of starting a new thread with your question. that should keep responses and relevant information grouped together, and make it easier to use the search feature to access it later.

69 DAYTONA

...short history of my Daytona

...I purchased it in 1988 from Charlie Shetrom, the original owner, with 6,400 original miles
...I owned it 10-11 years, sold it to Brownie Mascow in Houghton Lake Mi.
...I bought it back from Brownie in 2009 with 9,400 original miles, so, I am the 2nd owner and the 4th and last owner

...it is a highly doccumented car, dealer installed 6-PACK, everything matching numbers, never rusted, dented, dinged etc. and is finally the original R4 red once again...it was painted purple and white, red and blue striped and finally returned to the correct color about 15 years ago

...Mecum probably robbed the pix somewhere along the line, who knows...there was a series of photos taken that day at the Michigan Speedway and they have been used in print EVERYWHERE, including the rear cover of a MOPAR parts manual a few years ago...the Daytona has been in print more than any car I have ever owned

...one last pix of the Daytona with the same Michigan Historical Plate taken in my garage in 2009

winged69

I know of an R6 Red, Black wing and white interior car. It is an automatic. Will try to get pics

kiwitrev

ok after much debate here the car that started this thread is now in my driveway and it was born R6 red but now i would say its probably closer to the Hemi orange. i am the 4th owner and we believe it was painted this color by the second owner during a "refurbish" and he picked a color he liked. the  ?bad? news for me is the job done was a VERY good color change job and 30 years later still shows extremely well. the owner before me didn't take of property during the last 20 years the car was part of a VERY nice collection of which most are planned to be sold over the next year or two. apart from paint color the only other thing that is definitely wrong but an easy fix is the wheels
if it was easy anyone could do it
