I know it sounds funny, but it's true. 68 Charger, two speed wiper motor will only work if I hit a good bump. Thoughts?

Check for loose/dirty connection at the bulk head connector.

70 sublime

I have the 2 spd also

After my car had been sitting over winter I tried mine and they did not go either and they had been working in the fall

I just turned them on and gave the wiper motor a light tap with a hammer and they started to work
Motor was just stuck from sitting

Simple to try and might rule out wiring issues

Thanks, yeah, I tried the hammer trick last night. No luck.

Ok, then get a bigger hammer.

Like a starter, the motor must get a dead spot in it.  My old headlamp motors had the same issue.  Smack 'um and they would go.
They eventually did die.
Probably getting time to replace that baby!   :-\

Smacked it like crazy, no go. Replaced it. All good now. Was worried it was going to be a wiring nightmare to chase.

Cheers,
