Hey gang..
Any of you guys with Daytonas can help me? Where exactly is the hood seal attached to the front nose of the Daytona? I have a friend in need of the extra '70 Charger hood seal and attach rail I have. I just want to make sure he gets eveything he needs...  Pics would be of great help......

Thanks

Here you go, Troy...  It is pop-riveted to the nosecone, and there's a flat strip of metal that is over the seal itself.  Hopefully the pics show you what you need.

And Oh-By-The-Way, if you're selling parts from your "stash", we gotta talk...   :P

Thanks Geno,
Seems the seal uses the actual rubber as well and the long retaining bracket that the rivets are in... On the '70 Charger, those rivets are screws into a long black metal bracket which is attached to the bumper. What do you need for yours?....

I haven't collected much weatherstripping yet - only the windshield gasket and the hood-to-cowl seal.  That hood filler/seal was on my shopping list though, since the original is shot (as you can see). The side filler pieces are different than a '70 Charger's, and my originals might be salvageable - I dunno just yet.  I hope so, since good originals (much less NOS) are made of unobtainium.

Those rusted small rivets you see in my picture are what holds the metal strip to the rubber seal, and the larger aluminum rivets are what holds the filler/seal assembly to the nosecone.  I guess for '70 Chargers they used screws rather than poprivets, and that had to have been easier.  My info shows the Daytona hood filler/seal as 2962624, which the '70-71 parts catalog I have (thanks again, Chris!!) shows the exact same number under Group 13-64-22.  I saw the bracket you were talking about (that this filler/seal attaches to) in the exploded view.

Beggars can't be choosers, but I am going to need a lot of exterior rubber gasket stuff...

I've been told that the rubber seal is being reproduced... Do you know about that? If you're looking for just the seal, then I maybe able to get that to you and the attach bracket to Steve.. He has a seal, but no bracket and you have the bracket, but bad seal.... Feels like a donor's list to help save the life of someone..

let me know.. What other seals do you need?

*thunk* goes the parts book on Geno's desk...  Where do I start???   :P

Well, anything on the doors, vent wing, window channels.  There was some heat inside the car from the dashboard (which caught fire the same time the engine did), so a lot of the seals close to the front seat were damaged.  I'd love to find a good trunk seal with the embossed part number on the surface, but that's a pipe dream I do believe.  I MIGHT be able to re-use mine, but those tend to be brittle at the base where they glued them to the trunk lip.  The fuel filler tube-to-trunkfloor is another one that will be hard to find in good shape (apart from a reproduction).

That's just what comes to mind - there's probably other things I'm not thinking of at the moment.

Geno,
Are the door seals the same, part number-wise from a '69 compared to a '70?

Hey you know what i might be taking my 500 into the plastic/sand blasting guy this spring/summer.  I've got the itch to get it going next winter and i'd like to get all the rust cleaned off..  So my car might be getting its turn now that the 68 is nearing completion.... :boogie:

I have a set of NOS ones, door seals that is.. I'm still not sure what I'm going to do, but you'll be the first to have at 'em if I decide to sell... I don't need NOS stuff like that on the '70....

Thanks, Troy!

That would be fantastic, but you might also check to see if they would work on your '68 too.  I don't have a '68 parts book, but some of the internet parts number summaries show that number to be used from '68-70.  Just a thought...
