appreciate any insight / help Guys  :smilie_help: ,  bit confused  with My NOS ignition switch ,  decided to fit it  last weekend ( as i'm , getting ready to do a non A/C  heaterbox swap conversion from a A/C set up )   , came to a halt , because it has a extra ground terminal , guessing its for another Body line ? :scratchchin:  ,  nothing in the FSM wiring diagram , showing anything going to this terminal ! ,  :shruggy: no extra terminal on the original switch ,   , yet the  harness multiplug has a  empty terminal  hole  , for said spade connector .      wonder what this Ground terminal is for ?? ,

the part numbers are the same ,  #2864463 .
on the box  , not that it means anything ,  the  date on the shipping/ picking label is  09-20 -84

I believe that terminal supplies a ground in START to test some of the warning lights.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

I'm sure it functions perfectly and it wouldn't worry me at all.  An example of why the most expensive restorations use "lunchbox" parts over NOS when they can.  Which version do the new restoration ones mimic?

Are there # on the switch itself ?

yes  there are  ,  & I feel a bit of a fool now ,  :icon_smile_blackeye: , I miss read the part number on the original switch ,

was stamped very small , & close together , re checked it with a  magnifying glass  :P

original switch part number # 2864464  :o   :scope:
NOS switch   part number   # 2864463  :yesnod:

the 2864463 , for all 69 models ,  is listed in the factory  parts book  &  when I miss read the original switch part number  :slap: , that's what threw me into confusion ( don't take much  )
 :2thumbs:

yes was studying  the repop switches  , &  they all have the 6th ground terminal ,  :yesnod:

guessed  # 2864464  , is an assembly line part & or early dealer over the counter part , maybe  :scratchchin:

& #2864463 is the later production run / superceded part  /or , new stock at the parts department  ,  when the 5 terminal switches were used up  ,  mine came in 70s  colored  mopar parts box  :shruggy:

bit undecided  , about this switch , i'm in two minds to look round & try to find a NOS  #2864464  now ,  I know i'm nutts :image_294343: , &it don't really matter on my charger   ,  only decided to change the original , because well its the original 47 year old switch   :yesnod: anyways i'm waffling on a bit now

thanks  again everyone , for the replies & stuff  , its been greatly appreciated
