Well gang.... As some may have guessed, deducted or whatever I was going to do after the sale of the Top Banana Challenger T/A, here's the answer... I have taken the duty to take on Allen's San Antonio Express, be the caregiver of his '70 Lemon Twist Superbird; 440 4bbl console pistol-grip 4speed.. It is a project, but one I'm looking forward in tackling. Initially, I was going to replace all the lines, install a tank, service the front end and brake system along.. Allen was kind enough to send me off with a 70 HP short block and misc engine components along with a small tote full of NOS parts for it.. I just got home.. Here are some pictures of the car during my trip to Ft. Worth. So, the T/A turned into a FY1 Superbird...

Mark, it is a car Allen holds near and dear to him.. Not sure when the process will be for it, but I know, figuratively, it is one of Allen's favorite children..  :icon_smile_big:

I have known Allen practically half of my life and he's owned that car.... Allen,  you realize I've known you THAT long !!!??? I still remember driving to Carswell AFB there in Ft. Worth and attending my first Cowtown Mopar Club function.. Wow, how time flies....

Now that is a cool find. It would be awesome to get it on the road with new mechanicals and drive it around. Even if you choose to do a resto you know what you got. Looks to be a great car. Best of luck with it. Big bonus of buying it from a great Mopar guy.

On the look out for spare or better sheetmetal..

1. passenger side fender ( Superbird or '70 Coronet )
2. passenger side door ( could be from a variety of vehicles; '70 Coronet, Sat./RR/Belvedere/ and even 69 Plymouths and Dodges if I'm not mistaken )
3. Rear window plug..

Having known Allen for 35 years or more I can tell you that triple black 68 Hemi Charger is going nowhere. He has several cars out of his magnificent collection that I don't think will ever leave him. The 68 Hemi Charger may top the list of the ones that stay. I think there are only one or two other cars that he would be more inclined to keep. All in all I bet the Charger stays.  :Twocents:

Right you are Dave!  The three "Untouchables" are (1) Triple Black 1968 Hemi Charger R/T, (2) A4 Platinum 1969 Hemi Road Runner, and (3) Y1 Lemon Twist 1970 `Cuda 440-6... Right now, none of the other cars are for sale... but, as with any worldly possession, several could be bought if the "Price Was Right"... The "Untouchables" could only be bought someone foolish enough to pay well over twice the fair market value, basically the offers would be so far out of bounds that it would be irresponsible not to accept it.

The sale of the Superbird was the toughest decision that I made to date on my dwindling collection, having previously tried to maintain a "symmetry" to the collection...

Hemi Cars:  (1) 1968 Dodge & (1) 1969 Plymouth  (both B-Bodies)

Six Pack Cars:  (1) 1970 Dodge Small Block & (1) 1970 Plymouth Big Block   (both E-Bodies)

Aero Cars:  (1) 1969 Dodge Wing Car & (1) 1969 Dodge Non-Wing  (not really too symmetrical.... )

Modern Mopars:  (1) 2009 Challenger SRT8 Normally Aspirated & <<<Planned 2016 Challenger SRT Hellcat Supercharged>>>

Land Yachts:  (1) 1968 Polara 4Dr Sdn 440 Magnum & (1) 1968 Polara 4Dr HT 383

I will now turn to selling some excess NOS & Used Parts, and Hobby Literature

After 8 years of downsizing, whats left...

The third car I am thinking of Allen as an "untouchable" should we say was not the 6 Pak Cuda. I was more thinking the third might be a certain 69 GTX that has some sentimental value to you.

Wow! Now you can row gears!

I'll still harass you to put a 4 speed behind the hemi. Nice work!  :o
Personally, I'd almost consider putting the Hemi in the Superbird, and putting the 440 back in the Daytona.

Congrats, Troy.  It looks like all your hard work is really paying off.  Have fun restoring that 'bird

Congrats Troy!
Your hard work, trading and a little added equity here and there is paying off!
Hope to see one or both at Talladega!

Hey John, a little ambitious, even for me... Will have the Daytona though with the 426 Hemi and open headers....

Hey gang..

thought I'd post pictures of the car as it is now.. I friend of mine owns it now. I even got to help him with the restoration process on my former Superbird.... It looks GREAT in person... The ole San Antonio Express also on day1 when I picked it up years ago.
