Over the years of parting cars I have come across a paper tag on the heater boxes of 69 B-bodies.  Not all cars had it.  My question is, did they ever come on Daytonas or Superbirds?

Don't know about Daytonas or birds, but I have one on my 500.

Hmm, I wonder if they came on all heater boxes but most were torn off or if they just pulled samples out of the batch to test for quality?

yeah thought that too ,  last time I saw one of those tags on a standard B body heaterbox  ,  may be they were on all ,  & just fell off while being made ready for fitting or something  :shruggy: :popcrn:

Could have been something they were supposed to pull off prior to install and some just didn't get done, kind of like throwing away broadcast sheets.  Although testing a handful out of a group makes a lot of sense too.

Over the years I've found similar tags under headliners & under Carpets, ect, ect. LEON.

one of my 66 heater boxes has a "stamped" OK on the front of the box, no hanging paper tag

yes testing random , boxes ! sounds feasible too  :yesnod:,  also my thinking about ,  all being tested , is/was !  if a heater box was fitted on the assembly line  , it would not have been tested by a production line worker  , till the end as it come off the line , in a testing area or what ever its called .  now think off all the agro  , that's involved to take it back out of a fully assembled car !  well not agro as such , its easy ! just a bit time consuming  , get 10  cars  in one day with faulty heaterboxs ,  that's a lot of rework time  ! :scratchchin:  :shruggy: :popcrn:

I was thinking they were just testing for smooth operation and motor function not heat output or core leaks.

Wingnut426

The tag I have has never been filled out.  "Part no., Date, QTY. and Inspector" are all blank.  They could have easily stamped "O.K." on the heater box without affixing a tag that was never filled out.
My original question is if anyone had seen one of these tags on a Daytona or Superbird.  From the responses I take it as a NO.
