John Soares jr.  lent me his photo album while back to scan whatever I wanted. This was one of his sponsors back then. Also, notice John's hauler in the background. That was the old Melrose Missle hauler he bought to haul the Bird. The Superbird BTW, is one of the only ones known to actually start life as a real street bird. John was givin the car and parts and some support was sent to him from Nichels. John built the car himself.

Redbird

Very nice picture. I love the street scene in the background; the Corvair, the people, the Chevrolet. A mix of all ages like things were, not all new items as in a movie set.

Thanks for posting the pictures!

The attached picture is from Hamtramck Historical. Was the Dick Bown car a street car also? I remember when the Dick Bown Superbird front end was in the WW newsletter in the early 1980's or so, what happened with it?

I have been told it was a street Superbird also. but Dick never got back to me on it yet. I'm going to send him this photo you posted. Thanks for sharing it!  ;)

Here is my custom build I did of John Soares Bird. still needs some finishing touches, G-Man Graffix did the decal sets for me and they were not easy or cheap! But he really nailed them. Body is a JoHan and resin nose.

I've never owned anything but a MoPar. Can you say that?

no it has the dry sump. that was before I removed front brace. ;)

Awesome photo.  Lot of angle in the horizontal section of the wing. Looks to be about the same angle on the model. (Nice build!)

If I can get some old photos downloaded I think this dealership had at least 1 Superbird on the lot in front of it.
