This sad photo was posted on facebook. Does anybody know of this car? I remember hearing stories back in the day that a local yard here in Pa. (still in business) had one but nobody really could confirm it.  I'm sure it was the old story of a Super Bee that became a SuperBird over time.....you know how memories are.

I've always wanted to know, if junkyard owners who crushed these cars in the past, were kicking themselves over how much even a wreck was worth later  :scratchchin:

I remember watching a tv show in the 80's, a cop show & the detective went to a Junkyard. In the background I could cleary see a SuperBird or Daytona with pointed nose & big wing sticking up, it was sitting on top of another car like your pic but was in Los Angeles area I assume. LEON.

Looks like maybe a T/A Challenger to the left of it, also.

I came across that picture a while back  ,  see below , ( pictures slightly different )  was mentioned , it was in a Spanish American junk yard  , wing was sold  :scratchchin:

A few miles South from where I grew up was a junkyard next to a main highway. (Rt.13 Fruitland, MD) Around the late 70's they had a Yellow Superbird, and it was back to the road. So when you drove past you could see the wing sticking up above the fence. I wasn't old enough to drive yet, so never went in to check it out. I heard it was smashed in the front.  (The Superbird is long gone!!!)

The yard has changed hands a few times and is currently listed as Copart Salvage Auto Auctions.

And.....I just thought of something else. The Crown Sports Complex (can be seen across the street from the salvage yard) has some connection to this Superbird.

Someone in this area purchased the car at the Florida Barrett-Jackson auction a few years back when the economy was at it's recent worst. If I remember correctly, it's a real V-code, 4-speed car, and was picked up for approximately $80,000.

PettyMower

Yup....V-code, 4-speed. By the time it made it to Maryland, I think there was an additional cost of $10,000.  So, he had somewhere around $76,000 invested.

WOW.....it's been 6-years already. Seemed like only a couple.

I've not seen the 'Bird since.

A guy I knew in the 90s told me he junked a Daytona body in the 80s to get the engine out of it. He hated the car; told me they were horrendous. I'm probably the only person left that remembers the story of that car.
