ill start a little thread on my rat muscle car that i christened "Daisy". i didnt intend on keeping this car as i was gonna rob the 400 engine and other pieces from it but after getting it all cleaned up i kinda like the rough unrestored look she has, so its gonna stay that way. im going to try and build this as cheap as possible and use alot of the extra crap i have but also how i want it to be at the same time kinda roadkill-ish. heres my plan...

engine plan...
i bought a 440 engine off craigslist for $350 and it was a score, when i went to look at it, the engine was in great shape like it barely ran and with performance goodies. it had a steel crank, forged flat top pistons, double roller chain, painted inside block for oil run off, ported 346 heads, milodon dual external oil pump pickup with the matching pan and a cam (dont know specs on cam but not being used anyway).  after tearing it apart and cleaning internals found all bearings were like new, moly rings were like new and everything in great shape. im going to try and swap the heads for some chinese aluminum ones, but built by CHE here in vegas as he did all my racing heads. im also going to convert it to efi by using a stock ls1 pcm and wiring harness. i ordered a cps adapter for the distributor hole and im going to weld a reluctor wheel to the back of the crank pulley, so with cam and crank sensor thats all i need to run a ls1 pcm. im going to buy the edelbrock efi tunnel ram for it to work with the ls1 pcm. im also going to try and twin turbo it with a pair of 57 trims so it will spool fast and hit hard but not make over 800, i want to keep it around 650-700hp. turbo is the only way to get good mileage and still make gobs of hp. once i get the engine in it i need to make a set of headers for it, more on that once i get to that point.

trans...
a518 conversion so i have overdrive

body...
fix the floor patches and new trunk pan, subframe connectors with all the additional uni-body braces. i may have to do a driver quarter skin as its pretty shot, then ill have to rust it up and paint to mtch the rest of the rat look lol.

suspension...
going to use my tubular front k frame suspension and 5 link the rear end with this car, i already have the wilwood spindles and brake stuff, also have a qa1 coilover set i can use on her

wheels...
i have a set of 15x8 magnums for the front and a set of 15x10 magnums for the rear.

interior...
i am going to restore the interior somewhat, as im gonna try and daily this car. dynomat, new carpet, headliner, door panels, replacement center console and im going to use a set of tan ls1 camaro seats up front. im also gonna put one of my woodgrain wheels and tic toc tac's in the dash.

now these are all rough plans that may get altered lol, i have alot on my plate right now but ide love to have DAISY at the spring fling

Will be following this with interest as my 68 is gonna be done with a Roadkill look.

Those wheels will look great on Daisy!!  :yesnod:

since the whole roof is patina'd i was thinking of grinding and sanding a rebel flag on the roof then clear coating it. so it has a rustic general lee kinda look on the roof.

It could work and look cool.
I used to own a GL replica and did consider building a rat look GL with the charger I have now so I say go for it!

Lennard

I love the watt's linkage set up ,
did you fabricate that or a bought item
I don't think you will be able to use or fit that with existing fuel tank

cbrestorations

I built it, yea I'm gonna have to modify a stock tank for it

ive been trying to slam her out to drive to the mopars at the strip but man, shes been fighting me on every single thing. even had to saw the bolts off the upper control arms as they were rusted to the bushing keeping them locked in, the left axle was seized to the housing were not even a slide hammer could knock it out, even cut half the backing plate off to get swings on the axle flange, finally ran a bolt thru the axle flange and impacted the dang thing off, it bent the flange before finally popping out. the engine im trying to slam out for it is pretty beefy...forged, solid roller, roller rockers, arp everywhere, 3k stall, 3.91 sure grip. i had to replace entire brake system aswell. no time to fix the drivers floor pan, just gonna have to flinstone it. im hoping i can make it but gonna be tight...already working on it all day till around 1am. customer stuff is on hold lol.

if i can make it im stuck between 2 sets of wheels i have...15x8 with 15x10 magnums or 15x8.5 with 15x10 vectors. what do you think? i think the vectors would give it more of a rat look and magnums more of a beefy stock look

Vectors. :Twocents:

I vote magnums.

Vectors put it too far over into Joe Dirt territory (in my opinion).

Unless, Joe Dirt is your thing, then by all means. :icon_smile_big:

Cool build though, looking forward to see how it turns out.

If your still planning on swapping out those bucket seats I'd be interested in them. I'll buy them or I'll trade 1970 charger buckets if you just wanna swap.

Yes, I know I have too many cars. My wife reminds me daily.

well i knew the trunk was iffy but i was hoping to be able to drive to mats then put a new pan in it later but having to do a quick trunk pan job on her. the gas tank hanger brackets were flopping around like a loose tooth and didnt wanna loose the fuel tank lol. hoping to finish trunk pan, gear and fuel lines today. then still gotta finish building the engine. roller rockers and arp head bolts showed up yesturday. picking up axles with new green bearing on monday,  this is getting close...lol
