New one wire alternator, american made mechanical regulator

The amp gauge are up to +20 40 + ampso n idle

If i measure on the stud on the alternator it says 16-17 volts
and if i measure on the battery running around 13

It burns my regulators, im missing something here, please help

Why are you using a regulator with a "one-wire" alternator? A true one-wire alternator needs only the large power wire installed.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.
