I corrected the image.....much better:

Redbird

I love the pictures of whitewalls.

When I see the period pictures of muscle cars with whitewalls it just reinforces what I remember things being at the time.

I remember buying my first Superbird in 1976. It had 15" 70 series steel belted whitewalls on it. The previous owner had just put them on the car. I wanted RWL tires so bad. I had the tires taken off and mounted with the black sidewall out. Then I bought a white paint stick at the auto parts store and every month or so, I really can't remember actually how often, I'd go over the lettering on the tires with the white paint stick to have RWL.

In the day, it seemed as if almost every ordinary car had whitewalls. Even some people with muscle cars, like the person I bought that Superbird from, liked whitewalls too.

And I also remember "Tire Black" (I think that's what it was called), for those that didn't like the white walls. It was a can of black ink, that you would brush onto the white wall, or raised white lettering. Or you could do the entire tire to make it look new again.

4-SPEED, 1969 Charger-500 is the most Coolio car in the World!

Aero426

The car is F8, auto with a green interior.

Look at the back edges of the trunk and lower valance panel with the sun on them.    You can see the green.

Charger_Fan

That dealer plate looks like it could fall off from a decent sized bump in the near future.

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

Back in the day, for me at least, I hated white walls, but they were cheap, and yeah I'd have the white walls mounted on the inside, and flat black spray paint them so nobody saw them, and yes the white tire marker pen saw lots of duty  :icon_smile_big: , tires where a short lived commodity as they could be wasted in one night of smoke shows/burn outs, real RWL tires were expensive, even if they were just belted...used tire shops were all the rage back then, today I don't think I've ever seen one still in business, probably due to the liability issues?

My first Charger, a 68 I bought in 1972, had WW tires. An embarrassment!!  Saved and saved for Cragars with Goodyear Rally GT tires!!   ahhh... the look of G-60s !  :2thumbs:
I've never owned anything but a MoPar. Can you say that?
