Cool Story. Did you prime the oil pump first ( to get everything lubed up) BEFORE you started it ?

I pulled all the spark plugs and sprayed marvel mystery all over the cylinder walls and let it sit for a few days. Then I turned it through several times by hand and sprayed more MMO in the cylinders. I let it sit several more days and then turned it through by hand a few times. Then I primed the oil system and cranked the engine with plugs removed to spit out any extra oil and bits of rust before installing plugs and starting it.

  Great Job.

Was the car from El Dorado ?

The car spent 20 years in the chicken coop in Elbing, Kansas which is a tiny town. Then the owner moved it to his work place in Wichita, Ks which is where I first saw it. I live in Newton.

Yep-that's the one! It's two brothers that buy/flip cars all the time. In fact, they just pulled in a haul of about 40 mopars (lots of Chargers) a few weeks ago but it can be difficult to get prices, pictures, answers, or phone calls answered/returned. The one brother that I mostly dealt with gave me a fake name the whole time we were dealing. I didn't know his real name until I found him on one of the Mopar sites, which was several weeks after I had the car picked up and delivered to me! He hit me up after their latest find but I don't have time for more games...

Impressive find! Well done. I love the idea of owning, and driving, a survivor like that.

Love the 68 as well, that car has some potential. I own 2 Chargers at the moment and black 68 R/T is still on my list.

The radiator was plugged and had multiple leaks so I had it recored by a local radiator shop. Good ones are getting hard to find, but this was a father and son that are pretty old school. The only thing I didn't like was that they use a glossy black radiator paint so I told them just to leave it unpainted. I ordered some satin radiator paint from Eastwood's and sprayed it yesterday in the back yard.

Sweet ride & love the R6 (my R/T's color originally)
Smart choice on the radiator...original "055"'s are hard to find.   When I had mine done I had them make it a 3 core design using a high efficency core (mire fins per square inch)

By the looks of yours you used the HE core as well....

Got the radiator, water pump, and thermostat installed Saturday afternoon and took my two oldest daughters out for the first cruise. It ran and drove great! Can you tell I like to drive Mopar products?
