is that the same 68 r/t in the background. already in grey primer?
Nice stable of cars btw

Luke

Thanks! The charger is another 68 I picked up recently. Not sure what I'll do with it either but it found me and the price was fair for a running driving 383. It's really solid but it's been neglected and needs lots of TLC.

There are still quite a few cool cars out there to be bought, but it takes a lot of effort and persistence to find a car and pin a deal down. I've decided that there are very few good deals on ebay/craigslist. By the time it makes it to one of those sites, it's too late. For the most part, I refuse to travel more then an hour from my hometown because I've wasted a lot of time and been disappointed too often. You just have to talk to EVERYBODY local and ask the same questions over and over and over. You need to build up some cash and have it ready. When I look at a car, I show up with cash and a trailer! On a couple of the cars I own, I've worked on owners gently (but often) for several years!

Just found this thread. What a totally cool story! Thanks for telling us all about it & showing it off.
That car found the right second owner, for sure. Congrats!

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

Great story and an Awesome Charger! Thanks for sharing and welcome aboard!

Thanks for the kind comments!

It's time for an update. I took the car to a local detailer. He cut/buffed the paint and then sealed it up. The first few pictures show some good contrasts of the paint in process.

Snagged a sweet 1969 Kansas license plate with a super low number (#5) for $20 off craigslist! Took it to the courthouse and got it assigned to the car so it's the only plate on the car. I was pretty stoked.

Along with my two daily drivers....can you tell I like B5 blue???

Yes sir-I bought that Magnum (wrecked) mainly for the edelbrock E-Force supercharger that was on it. By now that car is probably in a cube on a boat to China....
I part out wrecked SRT8's.....I've rebuilt 6 and parted out about 35 of them.

Your friend did an excellent job of shining it up! Just add the R/T package and it would look just like mine. There cannot be too many of these around in this color combo!

It is so nice to see a car like this in the right hands :2thumbs:

Your friend did an awesome job on the buff/polish.  That is one sweet looking 69 :yesnod:

Thanks all! My buddy gets all the credit for the paint-he did an amazing job of waking up the original paint job. He did better then I expected. The paint is all original except for the Dutchman's panel and a spot-in on the leading edge (driver's side) of the hood. If you look closely at the hood picture, you can see spot in paint job.

Greta lokking car you got there! My 70 is about the same, true survicor. Mine is top banana, white top, white interior, also never changed, the 2bbl is out and replaced with an 4bbl Carter from 69. Also changed to dual exhaust. 1,5 owner, mother bought it new and the son had it from 1976-2013. I bought it april 2014 with 60000miles on the clock, now it passed 63000. Couple days ago i had to change the rear wheel bearings.

Whats your mileage?

Do you do that mainly as a side job?

Thanks for showing off the Charger some more, it looks fantastic!

Yeah its a side job. I intended to only do one in order to source a 6.1L for my 70 Barracuda build, but I just kept doing it. It's a fun side hobby that makes some money, helps me source Gen3 Hemi engines for my projects, and helps me source parts for the SRT8s I rebuild. I know them quite well after so much repetition and I have come to really appreciate what Dodge has done with the LX (Charger, Magnum, Chrysler 300) and LC (Challenger) platforms.

Funny thing, the SRT8s always seem to be wrecked in front . . .    :scratchchin:

Very cool car.  I just hope you don't get the urge to slap at stripe on the back end, like so many do today.  :rotz:

There will be nothing added-no stripes, no badges, no paint...it's staying just like it is!
