Finally drove my 68 after dark for the first time after a full resto. I have all of the exterior lights, but I have no dash lights at all, including the light at the shifter console. When I turn the dimmer dial to "dome" I dont get the dome light either even though the dome light and the 2 side console courtesy lights come on when the doors are opened.
Where should I start my trouble shooting, and any suggestions how I should go about it?

It is your switch 99%. Go to this link, get yours rebuilt for 75.00. He did mine a few years ago. Still works great. Every once and a while he has them for sale too.   :2thumbs:

I have this same issue on my 70...my question is does the power come from the dimmer switch and go out to the acc fuse, which then feeds all the orange wires for dash and dome light?

I have no power on that fuse....and I think it should be coming from the dimmer from what I can see from schematics. A little confusing because every other fuse either has power direct or after turning key on.

ah-ha......I will certainly check it out.

I didn't realize you had to have your headlight switch on to power up the dimmer. I can see why it sort of makes sense- but a guy might want to turn on his dome light or dash lights in a dark garage.

Thanks Jim!!!!

OK so no power to the fuse with parking lights on and dimmer turned up......guess it's time to drop the coulumn (again) and see what''s happeining-  thanks again Jim

This happened to me on my first 69.  The harness had come loose from the instrument panel dimmer.  Once I pushed the harness back on it worked fine.

The orange wire should be the power feed for the dash lights
