Has anyone ever had difficulties removing the ignition switch from the wire harness because of the two lock tabs. You pry one side from the locking position and the when you go to do the other side, the one you just unlocked goes back into the locked position  :brickwall:. You could take each hand to pry each tab but then you cannot pull the ignition switch unless you have 3 hands lol. Well at least I've had these problems myself.

My solution is to take a smooth junk mail type promotional credit card, roadside service promotional card, store card or whatever. I used my Zia records card that I never use. You know "buy 10 records get the next one free" lol. Anyway my point is to use a smooth type card, no embosses. Even a used up gift card could work. The thinner the better. Then cut the card into quarters and then use two of the 4 quarters. Save the other two pieces for when you lose the other ones lol.

Just simply pry one tab then slide one of the card sections behind the plastic tab and over the ignition housing nub. Repeat to the other tab while the other card holds the tab away from the locking position. Then viola while the two card sections are hold the tabs away from the locking nubs pull the ignition switch out.

Good tip. This can work for a lot of things actually.

According to many movies I've seen, the plug comes off real easy when the bad guy wants to hotwire a car.  :smilielol:
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

I think they just yank the wires out the back!

Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

Ignition switch is definitely a pain...I use hotel keys for this and other similarly annoying clips  :2thumbs:

You can also use those cut cards for shims and light duty pry tools!
