Green with white interior or black on black?

Green with white
Black x2

I voted to change the interior, but I'm also going to offer this suggestion:  Have you looked to see if there's a C500 for sale in the combo you want?

I voted black. But i have to say for the C500 i really like the white with red tail stripe. Recall seeing one at a show in Ontario 20 years ago. I believe car is states side now.

C500 is the ultimate mopar in my book

Seemed pretty clear you don't like the green its your car do what you want as said life is too short. When comes time to sell even if F8 the buyers will beat on you cause its a F8 car. You will be damned if you do, or damned if you don't.

:popcrn:

Not a fan of the white wheels. Recalls be much better.
Im generally not big on orange but ouff  :drool5:
I do like F8, just not with green interior. The entire car will be painted, so good chance to settle on the right color before it's too late.

Is the car numbers matching? I have a hard time changing too much stuff on a rare car - it's much easier on a base model because you really can't hurt the value! I would probably do as suggested and paint it F8 (which really is a stunning color when done right) and put a black or white interior in it. If you plan to drive a lot be aware that the white can be really hard to keep clean!

It's numbers engine and trans. I won't drive it a lot, weekend cruising and occasional trip away.

No, I have done too much, and done work properly on this one that I don't want someone else's car that may or may not have a solid body under the paint. Besides it could take some time finding the right combo.

But, since it is an original C500, it could help it's overall value in the long run to stay F8, but for your purposes of personal appeal,  I would go with F8/white gut.......

My :Twocents:

I agree. The white interior is a nice contrast to the F8 as your picture shows.

Quoting for posterity.  Mytur Binsdirti agrees with keeping the F8 green.

Homerr, that's gold!!!

.  My :Twocents: is leave it F8 and have your painter drop in a dab of pearl into the paint.  It will really pop in the sunlight but it will be subtle enough to not draw questions.  Go with the White guts and a White stripe.

This.   Exactly.

i vote to keep it as chrysler built it, and not just for higher value. too many cars/colors have black or white interiors. the ones that truly stand out are the color coordinated ones.

blue/blue, red/red, tan/tan, and green/green are all less common than the same paint with black or white, and everyone does notice

Well, I guess I'm a little biased, since my 500 is the dreaded Green-Green.  Yeah, if it was Nov. of 1968 and I was looking for a new muscle car I wouldn't have picked the one I have.  I would have gone for a Red or Black Charger.  But you know what... If you have a nice paint job  you'd be surprised how pretty the Green can be, especially out in the sunlight.
You're not painting a 72 Duster (no offense), you're doing a Charger 500.  My :Twocents: is leave it F8 and have your painter drop in a dab of pearl into the paint.  It will really pop in the sunlight but it will be subtle enough to not draw questions.  Go with the White guts and a White stripe.
Besides, everybody at a car show has a Red this or Black that.  There is only one color of money and it is GREEN!!

Cars like this draw out the 'investment' crowd when for sale, but the same crowd would want a car restored to the tag for their money. Modified cars are not sought after by most of the 'money' crowd. So if a return on your investment is the goal, it is up to you.

I have no money & I am not an investor, but I do love green. :-)

What's funny in a way is I grew up with these cars being used as daily drivers 24/7/365, they seemed to be ALL GREEN (seemed like all Mopars were green back in the day!) or some form of turd brown, when the cars started to die off in flavor by the first oil embargo in 73, only the diehard enthusiast wanted them, so motorheads like myself created small cottage businesses parting and selling these cars and parts, in the mid to late 70's, into the 80's and early 90's you couldn't give away green interior parts, or any color for that matter, black interior parts commanded a premium, if color parts had sold, the buyer was desperate for parts and usually stated that he/she was going to dye/paint the pieces black,...one interior NOBODY wanted was white,...funny how time changes one's flavor?...but I still can't stomach F8 green Mopars, esp F8 interiors, but to each his own, if you gotta go green, do it because that's what you like

i'd be one of the guilty parties regarding black interiors in the 80's. my fc7 super bee originally came with a white bench which was quickly tossed in favor of black buckets from a '70 charger. while it looked good in retrospect it didn't have near the pop that white does with the purple, but, just as you said, no one wanted white.

i admit to being jaded about color matched seats, especially since the daytona here is b5 with blue interior.

I have seen a 69 R/T done in A4 silver with a dark green interior.   I really liked it.   The A4 has that little bit of green in it to make it work.

RallyeMike

A nicely done colored interior (not black or white) is stunning and its a rare car, so I say stick with 2x green like it was built. While its less dough to change an interior color than a paint job, it still isn't cheap. Whatever you do, don't go F8 with white guts.... I want mine to be the only one!  :nana:

Any other option is a big mistake lol! :slap:
I'm so lucky I got F8 with Black-guts and black stripe, no console and a STICK!!!
Was always gonna paint mine B5-Blue but then I found some Dark Green PEARL metallic which is Eye-popping! :coolgleamA: :coolgleamA: :coolgleamA:

No one will re-paint a wrong colour car, believe me!
I made that mistake with my 71 GTX, it was Yellow and should have been GY9.
So I didn't want to do a mettallic so went for SASSY GRASS!
Crazy job a full colour change, never do that agian...

NEW F8 paint with pearl will ''BLOW YOUR DOORS OFF'' as we say in England lol... :2thumbs: :2thumbs: :2thumbs:

Its going to be F8, no green with black guts considered (or blue paint). Will get the car back together, painted, throw the old green interior back in, then do the white exchange after having some time in the seat.

Not really and it wouldn't help anyway. F8+white was the original combo. A black interior was swapped in some time perhaps in the late 70's or early 80'sand it's still there.

I'm having the same dilemma.  My C500 started out F8, but had a color change to orange very early on.  I like the Day 2 look, which in this cars case included a vinyl top.  So, when its redone, I'm leaning towards keeping the vinyl top but changing the color to R4.  The down side is it otherwise matches the broadcast sheet with a numbers matching engine and trans. One can wax poetic all day about what a fresh F8 paintjob looks like in the sun, but at the end of the day more people like red.  How much greater is the F8 price penalty than the price penalty for an R4 car that started out F8?

Homerr

Paint it F8 and then do a R4 driveway paint job with poor masking of the green so it shows through in jambs for extra Day2 cred!   :smilielol:

I agree with this. Even if done in f8 when it comes time to sell the buyer line will be "well it is a F8 car"

Not to hijack but is this the same car that you have posted in the classifieds ? Nice car.

Edit nevermind i see its a different screen name. whats the odds his was an f8 car thats been redone in r4.
