C5X DAYTONA

Here is a the car in 1992 when a friend Peter Jenslund purchased it.
Caution.... Low flying aircraft.

This situation is exactly what I wonder about with the restoration vs. modifications.

So all things being equal, would this car have been worth more restored to the original green, or is it worth more now as red?

GOTWING

I would think on a C500 the original color would have been a better idea. :Twocents: Looking at it in the junkyard amazes me how these cars got so banged up during their lifetime.  :eek2: These cars looked this bad by the time they were 8 years old, I do not see any 8 year old 2008 Challengers all beat down looking in 2016.

Chargen69

this is a member's car.  I have seen it myself and would buy it in a minute if I had the balls to sell my 69

1992-1969 is 23 years is plenty of time for a car to look like that

Well, since my Y2 C500 is in the process of being a B5 car, I obviously am not concerned as much with originality as I am with original.  With only 392 built, few of us have deep enough pockets to find one of these built exactly how we like it.  That being said as long as it is a hue that was available from the factory on the car, I think it is all good. I feel lucky to have found an XX car in any shade.

Exactly

Cant go back and order one how you want it and the chance of finding and being able to afford the color combo you want on any 40 plus year old car is slim unless money is no object.

Gorgeous car!

There comes a point where the owner doing the restoration has to decide if he/she wants to appease the Mopar purists or their own personal desires. I had at least 2 months of sleepless nights at camp this summer trying to decide, after going so far back to almost concurs with the metal work, whether to stick to my guns that I wanted my 'Bee half way between B5 and my darker blue that I had on it from a 1989 paint job.

I almost caved when the guys at the shop said "we've gone this far back in time, maybe it should be B5". I've decided the car only has to please me and my supporting wife. It will be darker than B5 with some "life" in the shine.

Hi,

I would go back to the fender tag colour as I don't like colour change cars at all.

This one started out looking just like his in F8, and will probably end up looking just like his in R4. Plus a black vinyl top.

crj1968

Will appeal to a MUCH wider audience in red...and looks awesome.

65K seems a decent deal on this, no?

RallyeMike

The "no rust" car seems to have some rust in 1992. I'd still take it though.

yes, as I said, I would buy it in a second if I wasnt afraid of getting my feelings hurt on the value of my 69

Wrong color.
Wrong motor.
$65,000?
Overpriced. JMHO.

I've seen the car in person at a local car show. It's a very very nice car. The owner is a really nice guy. I hope he gets what he is asking for it. Seems pretty fair to me!

F8 Green to R4 RED!

NO, NO, NO...

B5 BLUE is the ONLY acceptable colo(u)r change allowed on C500's... :slap:

Peter Jenslund is/was a Mopar visionary, he has saved many, many Mopars from Mopar Heaven and WORSE!!!
Whilst guys were wrecking C500's he was saving them for us to enjoy, now and forever!!! :pity: :pity: :pity:

A true Mopar 'GURU', unlike certain Folks who are self appointed NUMPTIES... :RantExplode:

My hat 'goes off' to the man with a plan, even back in the early NINETIES...
