The details of the add say $25,000.00, but the top says 250,000 firm. I am guessing a typo. Would he be mad if I showed up with 25k and wanted to take it home?

70Sbird

$250 K is a ton of money for a Driver quality (at best) car. I could see it easily fetching half that amount though.  :Twocents:

25k is a typo, he sounds like a nice guy but don't think someone will pay 250,000 when same money will get you a restored or surviver car. :Twocents:

What should this car bring normally in this shape and mostly complete?

Obviously not 250k.......

WINGMAN

Well a basket case- barn find sold last year for $90K  so maybe $$135K  :shruggy: (WINGMAN) Jay.

If the gold Daytona that the guy sold with the crazy OBO auction brought 90k, I guess you are right. Wow. I have a 'bird clone and I am building a 'tona clone so I will not bash anyone's real car as it is better than my faker. If this guy can get $250k or higher for his car, more power to him! I will just smile and drive my clones until I get my kids through college.

WINGMAN

I was referring to the Daytona that sold last year at the Mecum auction for 90K.

I think at $250,000 we could start a conversation on a B5 Daytona that's already restored!

Maybe if it had a Hemi but 250k is way too much. If you restored it you'd have over 300 into it. Like the wheels though!

chaaargerb

I love it. It's a flashback to the 80's.  Other then rims and color it looks to be pretty much intact. Runs and drives. I give it  5 stars for being black (even if it's a repaint) Not many original cars like this. If I had cash to play with I'd offer him $175,000 and hope he would bite. I would leave it just the way it is other then upkeep and drive it. I guaranty you put this car in a row of restored cars and people will be flocking to this one.   :2thumbs:

I bet half that gets it home.  It's pretty rough.

i'll take that bet.

not saying it's worth that kind of money, but he's had it for 47 years and not likely needing to sell it

None of you guys are considering the fact it's a one owner car that the the owner is still around. He can tell you every bump and bruise. Every story. How many more chances do you get like that. I think you guys are trying to beat it up a little to make the guy think it's not that great so you can get it cheaper. I hope he gets what he wants he deserves every penny. Good Luck.  :2thumbs:

I agree...the interior is really bad

Think of it as a rare one of one light tan interior :icon_smile_big:

Maybe he should hydroseed it, throw some bunches of dead grass in the engine bay and interior and add the infamous words "Barn Find" to the ad
