Yeah...pity. Only cat C or D writes off can go back on the road. B can be broken for spares and an Cat A write of must be crushed with none of the spares even sold.....usually a Cat A involved a fatality. I tried once to get a Cat B car re-graded as a C to rebuild it. Was a lovely Mk2 Jensen Interceptor FF.....for those that don't know that's a very British heavyweight Sports Cruiser with the very same Mopar 440 V8 under the bonnet (hood!) as our 440 Chargers....and four wheel drive!! The first ever non all-terrain car to be fitted with 4WD. Such a rare car now and this was a factory modded demo car from the launch. Only 320 were built from 1966 to 1971. No go....powers that be said it was too bad.....I was prepared to rebuild it and have any inspection they wanted to re-register it.....still no go. More automotive history lost for ever!

This birds getting Lots of attention. Any updates on any vin numbers?

nascarxx29

Think this is to far gone numbers from it may be in use on another Superbird. And 2 cars can't share the same vin numbers and coexist. If someone built. A duplicate car as a keeper and not passing it off as authentic and not trying to sell as real wingcar then its all good. But if 2 ? Legit Superbird surface with same vin whole different story

This is NOT one of Ray Naders cars.

Dan.

Ray's were all better shape than this and sitting in a building with the current owner. The roughest one I remember is the white one. it was a bench seat auto on column IIRC.

I've known Ray for over 35 years. he lives about 10 miles from me. I rented his brother's building for years. he had a Bird also. there was 6 birds between the brothers at one time. Ray sold his yellow one he bought new back in 89 or 90' but he still has his 63' Max wedge he bought new and drag raced.

O'k thanks. I am the guy who bought 3 of Rays cars. Still kicking myself for not buying all 4, but just couldn't swing it.  I knew his brother had a Bird. but did he have 2?.

Ok I know who you are now Dan, Pleased to meet you. Ray's brother Frank only had the orange bird. 4spd car. He sold it to a guy in Jamestown,Pa. couple years before he passed away.  then it went to Canfield Mopar nats where it was sold. I thought I heard it was out eastern Pa. somewhere now. I would know the car do see it.  The interior reeked of mothballs to.

mopar4ya

Like wise, have we ever crossed paths ?
Dan.

wingcar builder

Might have. but I'm sure we know a lot of the same people in this area. On another note, Any idea where the purple Superbird on Route 8 near Butler went? Ray tried to buy that car for a long time no sale . One day while trucking he went by and it was gone.

Aero426

The parts car Bird was likely owned by the late Earl Dull.  He seems to have passed in 1998.  He had more than one Bird.
