m favorite was when they had the Charger R/T "Road and Track" trim.

I dunno. I can see the practical and performance value of having an AWD car, but that stance and wheel fitment just look weird.

Living on the edge of Georgian Bay (Lake Huron), with a 1200 foot laneway, I'd be happy if it sat 4" higher!  :yesnod: She just doesn't want a truck or SUV anymore after 25+ years of driving same.

As for the wheels, need to see what we can work on for options there. Doesn't seem like any choice other than changing to gloss black..

What would move me to buy an AWD car is electric drive. --But it won't replace what I like about RWD muscle cars.
A small hemi engine ;) to refill/charge the batteries after spirited driving and keep up with a long haul seems like a way forward that could work fine. :shruggy:

Its more the weird offset in the front. No depth. It's always awkward when a manufacturer takes a platform originally designed to be RWD and adapts it to AWD, as opposed to a platform that was AWD from the beginning - like Jeeps, Subarus, and Audis.

What is the second color? Is that the redline tricoat? I considered the redline tricoat color but wanted to see it in person, but no one around had any to look at.
I like the wheels. They look like a dark gunmetal gray. In my opinion, they look good. I want to get a set of winter tires and wheels for the car for next winter. Also, I would like to see if there are  better performing summer tires in that size available, instead of the all season tires that the car comes with ( for when they wear out).

Thought I had her going Octane Red.. the dark one.. but nope, she wants to "find it in a parking lot". Ordering a Green Go with Hockey stripe and moon roof tomorrow morning!

As for tires... hoping like every other car sold in Ontario these days, that we'll get the free "winter package" which is a spare set of dedicated winters and wheels!  :yesnod: Generally up here you get identical wheels to what comes on the car (not cheap steels) and winter tires.

I wish we had the option to get a set of winter wheels and tires and summer tires and wheels from the factory!

you do have the OPTION - it's called "cold hard cash" -  the dealer knows it is popular in CANADA and is pricing things accordingly

they aren't giving them away for FREE

birdsandbees

Every car dealer in Ontario has the "free winter package deal" going.. and if they don't you just ask for winter tires and rims to be thrown in. Everything on the lot has it built into the price like 6bbl states, they don't give anything away for free! I was able to get them thrown in on my daughters Mazda CX-3.. and the daughter in laws Jeep even. BUT NO DEAL on a built to order car we found out today.. and nobody has any snow tires in stock anyhow. It will come with the all seasons noted on the build.. no option to change up here. Only option we have vs USA is we can pick all black or chrome and black inset wheels. Our salesman THINKS he ordered her ALL BLACK and if not (I think he had it backwards) we'll see how they look and if she doesn't like it he'll be buying her all black.

So we started at MSRP and built a car. Not many options to choose from anyhow.

Green Go..  Hockey Stripe.. X9 black/ black interior.. spare tire included up here for free !!  :hah:.. Power Sunroof.. Driver Convenience Group.. Tech Group and the Nav 8.4 so she doesn't get lost.  "5N6 "Easy Order".. 4EA "sold vehicle".

Kick in the nuts... $1795 delivery ! We're less than 80 miles from the Brampton car plant!  :brickwall:

$189 to put nitrogen in the tires!  "Can I just have air" NO !  :brickwall:

They wouldn't nix the delivery charge? We've only bought 3 cars new  but every time we told them drop that charge or no deal and they did.

I've had a lot of stuff "disappear" when buying new vehicles over the past 30+ years Dirk.. but considering Dodge Canada hasn't even got a GT AWD on their website, you can't build one.. they are not in a Challenger brochure, etc.... we did good finding someone that found a way to even order one for us up here, so we'll take our licks!

Dealers only have a certain margin in a car that they can give away in the form of discount...if they could knock over a thousand dollar delivery charge off, all it means is that you did not negotiate yourself enough cash off the car in the first place. When I was selling cars for VW/Audi (worked for them for 15 years or so) I used to find it difficult not to laugh when people asked for thousands off the cars. Some seemed to thing we had 40 or 50% to play with. When I started there we had a 17.5% margin in new cars...by the time i left in about 2002 that had been slashed to just 5%. People still used to ask for 25% of though...lol! The smaller margins and less discounting did lead to higher residual values when they traded in though....so the buyers make their cash back at the end. Same as anything...items that are routinely heavily discounted (as Ford's were at the time) depreciate faster. I'm sure things will be a bit different for dealers in the States though.
If at first you don't succeed, skydiving is not for you !!

Dino

Yeah there's a lot of variability with these but it's well known here that delivery fees are usually a load of bs. "Usually"   ;)

I got close to $4K off of my Accord in 2010 which was more than I expected and more than the average discount for my area, but I bought it while the new models were rolling in so the timing was right.

I'm seriously considering a Tesla Model S in a few years. I wonder if I can get ANY discount on that beast!

Absolutely amazed. Ordered Feb 15th and just told delivery date is expected for March 12th + 7 to 10 days to get it to the dealer. I had expected May, not 5+/- weeks!

I understand and feel what you feel.
When one orders a car getting it soon is not enough.
When I ordered a challenger srt in 09 I waited weeks while my -built- car sat in a lot with many others.
Knowing ones car is built but not moving in the system is a frustration.
Maybe less information about the process is better.

Just happy she's going to have her new car by months end! Means we don't have to renew the insurance on her TrailBlazer that is due on April 3rd and she might get to test out the AWD in the snow before Spring comes!

I received my new Challenger GT Sat. (3/4/17). I ordered it Jan 31st 2017. It was built (2/13/17), released (2/15/17) and then shipped (2/16/17). It sat in a lot in Mechanicville NY after it got off the train, waiting for a truck to take it to the dealership in CT. Dodge gave me a window of 2/24/17 to 3/2/17 for the car to arrive at the dealership. It arrived at the dealer on Thursday 3/2/17. Originally I was told figure 6-8 weeks for delivery of my car. In the end it was just over 4 weeks! It was the longest 4 weeks ever.
We already named her Scarlet. She's a beauty! I love it. It is awesome!
