$25K , 318 car,...and reserve not met......this is why you use ebay to sell a Charger

Hey, I have seen complete rust jobs go for 15-20 all the time.  IMO, it's a nice solid Charger

Here is a pic of the crappy 1/4 inside door jamb. Then a picture of my original charger & how it should really look. LEON.

One of my pet peeves on Chargers is when people make the body lines " to sharp " . That lower rear quarter body line under the side marker is waaaaaay to crisp/sharp , totally incorrect from an original . I see this a lot on Chargers . NTM , when people restore them , they also make the side body line way to crisp/sharp .

Your original quarter attachment is a lot cleaner than I imagined it would have been done in 1970! I was looking at a front corner box join on a 2006 GMC pickup years ago when it was still new, and there were hammer marks to line it up before the spot welds......

DAY CLONA

Not a bad looking car for the vintage, were talking almost 50 yrs here...I've seen a lot worse, sure it needs to be stripped down and built/cloned into something viable, I'm sure it's hiding some secrets under it's paint but again I've seen a lot worse to start with, and yes the bench seat was available, typical seat cover/re-upholstery done back in the day to hide a torn/damaged seat, and sure it's probably had some patches/half skins done on the rear, but nothing that can't be replaced with AMD today, as far as the "overspray" on the engine, it don't look too bad, the intermediate hose is painted on smblks, as are the manifolds, besides that 318/auto is just a boat anchor, one of the first things tossed in the pile as the car is torn down, any respectable Charger has a minimum of a 440/6 and a manual transmission, that car would make a great R/T or Daytona clone

:yesnod:  true , one of the first things I look at , how sharp the body lines are , & the lower rear quarter body lines are/ should be much softer , than they appear to be on  this 70 , & rounded , if makes sense , before my computer blew up a few years back , I did have a good side by side picture saved to show this , quarters have had work that's forsure  :yesnod:

passenger side  torsion bar cross member  looks rotted  :scratchchin: well to me  :shruggy: may be its mud or grease .... funny though there are no good pictures of this area though

I agree it's a nice solid car. I like it a lot.  Price is all about the exposure.....

JR

I actually enjoy seeing the random 318 or slant six survivor.

I wasn't around back then, but I'm pretty sure that the majority of the chargers on the road back then were plain base models like this one. The RTs were the exception.

Just like today, most mustangs/camaros/challengers are regular v6 base cars. Cars like this one are a good glimpse at life as it was back then.

I hope whoever buys it keeps it as is. There are plenty of RT clones to go around.

Notice how the back half of under rocker (or lower 1/4) on passenger side is nice & clean with fresh paint :scratchchin: then notice how front half looks to have the rough dirty beat up surface rust under it :scratchchin: Hmmm I wonder why :scratchchin: Could it be because it had a new 1/4 or patch put on it? The car is a nice car, Just not as nice as the description said. False advertising. LEON.

Other than the jack instructions, can anyone shed some light as to what the other four (4) stickers are under the deck lid?   :shruggy:

Man you guys are on the ball.  :2thumbs:  It is great learning from your comments.

I agree with JR, I enjoy seeing a clean 318 or /6er.  It gives a good sense of the era, everyday driver.

I noticed the seat too, it looks to be a C body seat or upholstery from a Chrysler model.  And the pentastars on each fender... I wonder if it was a mod some did back in the day to put a pentastar on the driver's side too?

I was wondering the same thing. The underside of the trunk lid on my '70 Charger is original and just has one (Jack Instructions).

It looks to be a very nice old Car ?
There obviously has been some work performed over the years, not uncommon on anything 47 years old, but my particular focus was drawn to the installation of a new exhaust system.
Because,
ours is a '69 R/T model and still retains it's factory original exhaust pipes in good condition ?

Could this be an indication of the environment the subject Car was stored in ? that the original Exhaust needed replaced at such a low mileage ?

Interesting,  Thanks for posting.  Several mentioned the seat.  Mine is black vinyl like the following   It makes sense that there was a replacement at some time.  I had not seen a steering wheel like that one before, but see they are also an option.  My XH (base) has a floor shift bench and only one pentastar.

I like the car for what it is.

For those with bucket seats, do you sit up high, or down low.  The bench puts me up pretty high.  I was just curious.

Only two more posts left till I reach 1970.
Who in their right mind would say

"The science should not stand in the way of this."?

Science is just observation and hypothesis.  Policy stands in the way.........

Or maybe it protects us.

I suppose it depends on the specific case.....

chargerbr549

I have a tough time believing the low mileage numbers because of the amount of repair work thats been done and how the underneath of the car looks like it has seen alot of road miles.
