Jack McCoy did the same thing, build his cars on the West Coast with Nichels parts.  They wanted to do modifications by themselves.
I believe the front end of this particular car is the original sheet metal from Jack McCoys car. Would have been nice if it had found it's way to the restoration of the 7 car a number of years back.

Pete had mentioned to me a while back about selling the McCoy front clip...   shruggy
