Interesting that the first picture shows despite all the detailing they failed to blacken out the headlight bucket rims. But.. later when Petty is putting the sharpie too it it looks like it is.

Dumb way to run an auction... 117K starting bid.. or 117K buy it now!

Maybe when he was done scribbling all over the car, he colored them in with the Sharpie?

With such a detailed restoration why have coil over rear shocks and the lower nose cone steel looks like it is fabricated from galvanized sheet metal?
Other than that the price does not seam out of line. Anyone know more details on the car?

RealWing

One interesting thing is that it is one of the "missing" Superbirds on the NASCAR list.

This Superbird is by no means a "restoration" guideline, too many mistakes, but regarding the "galvanized" bare center panel, that's the center section of the 3 pc lower valance, a correctly restored car would have a bare steel center panel with some "bordered" overspray on it from the outer valance ends, a galvanized panel is a NOS replacement, which is how the current repro's are finished

Hey Mike...My original center under panel had traces of black under the bolt heads so I painted mine. I had plans on leaving it natural because I always thought no paint on galvinized panel.
wingless now, but still around.

Dave I'm sure a few variations of finish exist on various cars, even Daytona valances are no exception in regards to finishes that I've seen over the decades on original or NOS replacements, it's always best to restore your car with what you know it had, rather than go with the "crowd"

Trans is non numbers matching.
