Is there a good site to get a Mopar battery, or is it just better to go to a local dealership to get one?  Anyone have opinions on that?

The repro batteries are very expensive and last a couple years at best. if you want a Mopar battery, just go to a dealer and get a group 27 from them.

I agree, I no longer buy the reproduction batteries. I buy the group 27 Mopar battery from the Dealership. They're black in color so they look some what correct, and I've been getting at least 10 or more years out of them. I've been told they are made by the Interstate Battery Company.

I took my old red cap battery cut the bottom and took every thing out and used the case as a cover over a small battery.

I disagree mark. The one in my 68 was in may daytona and that one was bought in 2010. Still perfect. Key is a good tender.

Yep.. and the script batteries he's having drop shipped now are not lead / acid they have a sealed Odyssey AGM hidden inside.

Got my yellow cap a couple weeks back, the correct 24 for my car.

Bring your bank manager... but suspect you'll be better off than I was. Mine was $82 US for shipping and then UPS hit me for another $92 Cdn for brokerage and duty / taxes on top of the $265US for the battery.

I use similar Odyssey's in some customers and my own airplane and generally get 8 or 9 years out of them.

FYI.. the battery hidden inside sells for $185US from most suppliers, so the script case and hook up is a mere $80.

Thanks for the help guys.

I was busy with other life things.  Trying to get back into all of it now again.  Of course my battery died cause my kids like to open the door, and not close it all the way!  Hope to get him back on the road for Cooter's Last Stand in July!

Exactly.. wasn't sure it was a 925 inside, but what I stated generally sells at $185US !

I have a dry charged 27 Red Cap that I bought way back in 1989 that is still on my shelf. Hoping I can pop the top and or bottom and do the same AGM "trick" to it for my Bird.

That one started out as a nice clean, dry, unused empty case. There is a thread on moparts about modifying an old battery.

It's amazing how powerful that itty-bitty AGM battery is.

YEP.. I have one in my airplane. I can taxi to a dock on floats by just turning the engine over and letting the propeller do the work...with the engines mags shut off. The old lead acid battery did good to even start the engine!
