Here's what was on my 69 Charger when I took it apart, both sides.

Thanks.. looks like the one piece bolt with the hint of a washer look to it (ie neither of mine are correct).

I have one of those bolts set aside for where the ground wire hooks to my firewall from back of engine, will have to dig around and find a couple more.

Neither one is correct electrically. Free of paint and corrosion with a bolt with a lock washer or fiber lock nut will make a good ground.

Definitely flyinlow, that said it is a threaded hole that Chrysler took the time to push enough metal out that you have about 3/16" of thread depth.

I used a tap, to clean all paint out of the threads, found some RAWL screws that had the right "look" to them... cut the self tap ends off and cleaned them up.. coated everything in dielectric grease and installed. Looks good and have a zero ohm reading from ground in the harness to the frame. Gotta be better than the old painted over mess it was and with that I never had any headlight / signal light issues.

Much nicer !

The bolt with the nut welded to the sheet metal usually work well. A screw thru sheet metal , not so dependable.  I have used a 1/4" bolt solidly bolted to the radiator support with di electric grease or Nolex applied to help insure long term conductivity. Then use the bolt as a grounding stud, with an additional nut to secure the ground tabs. Once the ground stud is secure you can touch up the paint if desired. Stainless or brass hardware will be more corrosion resistant.

YEP.. I'm not buggering up the paint at this stage.

BTW, I am an Electro-Mechanical Engineer... not that that means shit!
