These things are $15 at RockAuto, so I picked up a couple.  It's 5/16" in and out, and 1/4" return with the restrictor.  Are these originally 5/16" or 3/8"?

5/16.   Somebody probably knows the correct size of the restrictor.   I think its .060 (??)

Somewhere around my garage is an old YO piece that has a far too large restrictor causing fuel pressure to be about 2 psi.

Otherwise,  an old 3 port chrysler fuel filter can be used for 5/16's inlet lines.     Or if 3/8's is used, there's an old GM 3 port FIL3041.

There is also a measurement of the tubes itself.  One of the cheaper repros has too short of a tube inside causing low fuel psi as well.   You have to use a paperclip with a hook on the end to measure the length of the tubes...give me a minute to find the thread.

Originally they were 5/16" in/out & a 1/4" return for all engines.....

Does yours have in/out stamped in it?

Here is the thread.....gives you the measurements of the tubes....

I bought one several years ago just to have an extra on hand. It's been on the shelf ever since. It seems that I bought it when I was at MATS one year. The box is marked $62.00.
This thread got me wondering if I had bought a good one or piece of junk, so I unboxed it and it checks out as being a good one. Long tubes, and IN and OUT stamped on it.
Thanks 6T9 for the reference thread.  :2thumbs:

Restrictor has to be .060 to function properly.

I bought some of those and the restrictor hole is not right. They may be worthless. I'll try and restrict the hole or maybe just illiminate it all together. I use a filter before the pump anyway.

So .055" won't work, or can't be brought up to .060"?  I wouldn't have thought it was that critical a tolerance.

Smaller is not going to hurt anything, if it's bigger = fuel easily heads back to the tank on the return line vs retaining enough pressure to push it up to the carb bowls.

Soooo, did the one from RockAuto  work out ok?

375instroke

I haven't bolted one up.  Going by the measurements I posted above, it looks like it should work like original.  It has a .055" restrictor in it.
