i mounted a carter electric fuel pump on 69 charger i need help wiring it i was told you need to use a relay connected to a oil pressure switch so i bought a t-block (brass)and pressure switch, now comes the wiring part, any pics of pressure switch or wiring would be appreciated,i was told not to wire it to a on/off switch (toggle)but to use a relay,i moved the fuel pump across from where it is in the pic

I'm pretty sure I didn't use a relay but I did use a more complex switch which may act as a relay. Mine has a 3 second "prime" function and is "kept alive" by the tach (not oil pressure). The pump itself just has 2 wires I believe: hot and ground. The rest of the wiring is mainly a signal from the ignition switch which feeds into your relay/pressure switch along with +12v from battery. The signal tells the relay to supply/kill voltage from the main. There's likely a ground on the switch in addition to the one on the pump. Here's a bunch of diagrams from a Google search:

Thats why i wanted to chime in here, that will be something to research thank-you for the response any pics? :popcrn:

This is what I purchased:
http://www.revolutionelectronics.com/Fuel_Pump.html
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Fuel-Pump-Safety-Switch-/321185373287

It has wiring instructions. Looking at it, there's a circuit breaker and relay built in.

i have to install a tac adapter thats a whole different project always doing something to this dodge, thats why we love these old cars :2thumbs:thanks for the link...

I believe the tach signal is just a wire running from the negative side of the coil. It's nothing special. But since mine has a tach, I just added a double spade connector at the gauge.

Im getting there...

Thanks for the info troy, it does look like a nice setup!

update picture on the carter fuel pump, next is the tach adapter

Thanks again Troy for the link just finished and now you turn the key on and the fuel pump primes the carb for 5 seconds and shuts off, perfect would highly recommend :coolgleamA:
