1969 Q5 Daytona - XX29L9B388179

It is coming up for auction this weekend:

https://www.mecum.com/lots/PA0817-295139/1969-dodge-daytona/

I've been searching but I can't find anything that gets into any real detail about the car. Has anyone seen it in person? Any known history?

Thank you,
Dave

That is one gorgeous car and color. Not much on the whitewalls, but I guess they were original. No knowledge of car here.

I don't know any history on the  car,  but was able to get up close to it during a recent Good Guys show in our area.
While I love the color combo, I was not impressed with the resto.
Not sure how long ago it was done but the paint on the wing was cracking and just didn't look very detailed.

Your's is better Bob  :2thumbs:

Old post from Moparts.    I may have a very old photo of it from the '70s at home.

Original owner had it reposessed in 1972.     Second owner 1972-74.    Third owner Don Kautz bought it in Feb 74.    It was painted a dark color at the time.    Don took it apart down to the bare shell in 1976 to restore it for the first time.    He says he painted it A4.    Last entry from Don in the database is 1986.   When he bought it it had 32,300 miles.  He put a few hundred on it before taking it apart.   So if it has 33k on it today, it probably has less than 1000 miles on it in the last 40 years.

Thank you Doug. That helps. Thanks to everyone that responded and for the double post. I did a search, I did, I really did.

A respectable number, especially given that, with the buyers fee taken into account, the selling price was actually probably $230k-240k.

The $215k is more than I was figuring but it was worth that much on Saturday to someone plus the fees. It really is a good looking machine.
Thanks again for everyone who passed on the history. Its always interesting to find the history on the cool machines.
