"heat treating" aluminum (usually the T6 and 7 grades) means it was "pickled" in  solution of sulfuric acid, at about 700-1000 degrees to alloy the aluminum with another alloy (copper or magnesium) to produce a strain harden material, there's other heat treating techniques for aluminum, but solution hardening is the most common in the industry

I don't have any info on original wings in that regard....


but if not done properly, a strain hardened aluminum casting can be prone to stress cracks and distortions as they age, I'd be curious to see Rick's offerings or to hear just how the castings were made, and if the center blade is a casting or extrusion, I know Dane's Tona' wings are created from multiple castings made in halves, welded together...

one guy said he saw the wings at PA this year and the center blade is solid he said , while the up rights were hollow  ?  just passing on his words
