I'm looking for a picture of the center trans cooler bracket mounting area. This would be on a Hemi charger 500. Any pics would be great. Thanks

I wonder if creative did the same as on the Daytona, since the charger grill support is not there to fasten the RH cooler bracket to.
A flat metal approx. 1" wide was welded to the underside of the rad cradle and bent down so the cooler bracket can be fastened, VERY crude on the few Daytonas that I have seen.
Of course many of the aero mods on these cars were crude

It looks like you have the wrong bracket? The one in the picture attached to the cooler looks like a non-Charger bracket...according to the original poster on Moparts, the top bracket is for a Charger...next is 70 b-body, then 68-69 b-body, and last on bottom is 66-67.

richRTSE

Supposedly this is a Charger bracket....but looks different than the picture above

This post?

Yes. But I think the top bracket labeled Daytona and 70 Charger would also be used on 68 and 69 Chargers, including Charger 500? The 500 would have no reason to have a different bracket than a regular Charger? Other 68-9 b-bodies have shorter front ends so Charger would have different bracket than other b-bodies all 3 of those years

Ok thank you.  I'll call Bob at Glen Ray he should have one hopefully.

FJMG

Hmmmm.... almost looks like the bracket is too short???? :shruggy:
I have not seen any hemi auto 500's up close but if the 69 grill support remained then a standard 69 cooler support should be perfect?
On the few daytonas i have seen, the 69 bracket was MIA (presumably tossed by creative :shruggy:) and the two bolts that secured that bracket to the cooler were used to fasten a crude piece of 1" wide sheet metal. I will see if I can find a pic.
One other tidbit on daytonas with coolers that I have seen so far (i realize this has nothing to do with 500's but thought it may be of interest since we are talking hemi auto aeros); the 2" wide strip of sheet metal that was welded to the rad cradle in order to secure the latch tray was not be welded above the trans cooler since it was in the way. The hemi auto daytonas only had the passenger half of that strip welded and the drivers side was left unsecured! I have however, seen one low mileage example that had one bolt on the drivers side to help secure the strip to rad cradle but I could not confirm if it was installed by creative or....
Considering there was only 15 (or so) hemi auto daytonas, the cooler attachment problem was not something dodge wanted to devote any serious problem solving skills to.
Does anyone know if this was an issue on the hemi auto superbirds? Or was the cooler an option in 1970?
