I'm hopefully looking at a 1977 Chrysler Newport this week that runs/drives with a 400 but it has the Lean Burn system intact. How difficult is this to remove? Do I just need to remove the wiring and get a new distributor?

The Chrysler electronic ignition will do it. In fact I believe there is a page in the instructions which I have on my site that explains how to. Page 3.

You could pick up one of these brackets and run HEI to get rid of the separate ignition box and ballast resistor.

I would get a new carb and maybe even a manifold as well, but you first have to do the Ign.
