Speedometer needle

I installed a new decal on my speedometer and couldn't get the needle back on. I tried pushing really hard and tried a twisting motion, but it wouldn't go in at all. It's like the shaft on the speedo is too large. Well, I pressed too hard and broke half of the black circle off the needle.   Does anyone know where to buy one? Or is the speedometer itself the problem? I remember the needle was a pain to remove. I might be better off finding a used 120 mph speedometer and using the face I just painted and put the new decal on. Anyone have one? It's a Rallye 120 mph speedometer for a 3rd gen.
