Me too. And so was James Smith, stuntman and half owner of Smith Bros. Restorations.

I don't mind it, even the made up grille. The only thing I don't like is that the top of the dash is overkill, too big in perspective. Goes half way up the windshield. But if it saves a 2nd Charger I'm all for it.

bull

That does look weird. Maybe next time he'll figure out a better way to deal with the dash. I think he was in a hurry this time.

Kern Dog

For a stunt car, the dash isn't as big of a deal. The dash panel in newer cars is HUGE due to the laid back angles of the windshield. He had to put something in there to cover the Ford wiring!

Nope, they're stupid 2nd Gens...too many of those anyway!  :nana:

If those could be pumped out for say, 20 grand, maybe 25, I think they might have something worth selling to those who want a Charger but can't afford the real thing.

JR

I hope Dennis McCarthy gets wind of this idea and starts using this idea for the fast and furious series.

I'd enjoy the movies alot more knowing that a handful of vintage steel didn't get written off to make each future installment.

You can get a decent Crown Vic for $3000 all day long. If you were to use strictly AMD It might cost about $15,000 for the minimum of what you would need including glass and bumpers. Then there is a roll cage and paint. With labor $25,000 might be tight. However if you went with fiberglass body parts you might be able to pull it off.

Not sure if this was discussed in another thread or not (didnt see one), but it looks like John Schneider himself will be jumping this "General Lee" at an event.

I guess due to rain they called off the "BIG" jump for Saturday, and John jumped the ford /GL off a ramp about 18 inches high, very anti climatic.
But safety first, he may do it on Sunday.

James Smith did a big jump today (Sunday), John was always going to do a smaller jump for safety reasons

JB400

If John was actually going to attempt a bigger jump, he should of done it when he was younger.  Glad to see though that they've made this Crown a work horse

Bad B-rad

I know Johns Jump was always smaller, but it was advertised as over the creek, not over two kegs.
They say it got smaller due to the rain, I can buy that.
Its dangerous as hell.

The Smith brother did 175 Feet today, again I guess due to the rain the record was not broken.
He sounded like he was hurting a bit,(James Smith) when he got out of the car, kinda like he got hurt, but was playing all cool for the crowd, hope he is ok.

Bad B-rad

Side note, and this may be, just because I am a pecker head, but in the 80's John was in a movie called Cocaine Wars, and he is a Rambo like dude who takes out a cocaine making plant. On the cover, he is in a Rambo like pose, holding a gun, and I think he even has the bullets across his chest.
Well anyway, growing up I was a HUGE Dukes fan, but every time I see Tom Wopat, now I think of the John Schneider as he was in "cocaine wars", breaking into Tom Wopats house late at night, and destroying all of Tom's stash.

bamadukefan02

I love the fact that they can still do the jumps and not ruin a Charger.  My son hasn't ever watched a jump in person and with new style there should be many more chances.
