Well at least he put a price on it $4995

Selling a 1968 Dodge Charger project car.
*Building a new house, so may trade toward Dozer, Skid Steer, Excavator or?

THE BAD NEWS: Sadly, this car had an engine fire that took out the interior, and warped most of the sheet metal. The seat frames can be saved (Lol!) ...The car is in rough condition, but it is worth saving.

THE GOOD NEWS: The frame rails are solid. The car is structurally sound, but will need most of the sheet metal replaced. Amazingly, the car still retains it's original numbers matching 383" big block V8, engine and automatic transmission. It has an 8-3/4" rear end. I am including all of the side and rear glass for the car. ...I also have several body and interior parts available for separate purchase if you're interested.

OVERALL: -These second generation Dodge Chargers are increasingly harder to find (in any condition), and continue to increase in value. Especially with the original engine! (How many numbers matching Big Block Mopar cars still exist?) Every part needed to restore this car is available now on ebay.

-Please note that this is a big project, not for the faint hearted. ...Yes, I have a clear title for this car. Delivery available. $4995 cash firm. Not negotiable, but I have many parts to rebuild this car with that I will sell separately at a reasonable cost. Call me if you have any questions.

*May trade+cash toward: Dozer, Skidsteer, Excavator, or other heavy equipment.

Two decades ago, on I 275 outside Detroit, I saw Charger on the side of the road burnt. Stopped, looked it over, and it was so abandoned, someone already stole the engine. Only in the Big D.

Is it worth saving?  Seller says it is, so it must be.

If the car burnt, like it says, I wouldn't even trust the frame or any other metal on that car.  You might get some patch panels off of it and the tail lights look ok (maybe).  Other than that, it looks like scrap to me.  Not worth the cost to transport.

So the entire consensus is this car is done. But if i bought it, painted it orange, and jumped it, everyone would blow their minds for destroying a charger because all chargers can be saved.... i dont get it sometimes.

I understand what you're saying.  I'm not one of those that think every Charger can be saved but it does make me a little sad to see this car because it can't be saved. The problem I see is that cars like this are not used to jump or destroy, just too much money to fix, at least I don't think they use cars like this.  They do take restorable cars that are easier to fix (think $$$) to jump and destroy.  But I have to think the days of destorying old 2 gen Chargers is almost over.  Those of us that know about and liked the GL are fading away.

72Charger72

It COULD have been saved if 1) someone had tried right after the fire.  2) Hadnt left it sitting unprotected for who knows how long after all the paint was burned off. Hell a tarp or anything ....And the engine fire destroyed the whole dam car so who's to says the numbers matching motor and tranny are not toast from the fire also..
You have to have something to save and from the observation of the extensive rust and pitting you would need a complete donor car. He'd be lucky if they dont charge him to crush it.... not a lot of iron left and that orange stuff  :coolgleamA:

Ive said this before, but now it's a perfect donor for a tube frame race car build.

Like so.

If I had the time and money I'd love to build a Charger bodied stock car to use for track days. Something like this would be absolutely perfect.

Of course, I wouldn't pay the 5k asking price the seller wants for this one. That seems steep for a car that burned completely.

the frame would probably fold like a paper clip when the car hits its first pot hole

Sorry, it was a typo. Was it really that difficult to figure out? It was supposed to be "tempted".

Who in their right mind would say

"The science should not stand in the way of this."?

Science is just observation and hypothesis.  Policy stands in the way.........

Or maybe it protects us.

I suppose it depends on the specific case.....

LETS GET REAL HERE, even if this was an R/T car, its still TO FAR GONE!
If it was a Daytona, then someone would 'GIVE IT A GO', but suffer the slings and arrows of more saner Folks... :horse: :horse: :horse:

I saw a 69 Charger looking like this a while back in LA.

The guy had paid $5000 for it, stripped it out, then paid $1000 for a full soda-blast and then left it outside for a couple of years!

Yep they get rusty even in LA... :slap: :slap: :slap:

Sad thing is, he was a pro car-painter and could NOT get round to doing his own car... :brickwall:
Sold it back to the previous owner for $500, that SUCKS... :RantExplode:
