Anyone checked their fire extinguisher for the recall? I've 3 and 2 are being replaced!  https://inmarmarketaction.com/kidde/Kidde284US  Mine are labeled Kidde but I see many others like SEARS and so on.

..and for the Canadian lads here..

I was hoping to get some new ones, since mine are so old they may not even fire anymore. All in the house are 3A's so not covered, off to check my shop, hangar, aircraft and boat units.

..and some more searching because I had Garrison's in the house and up at camp... and they weren't on the list. Now they are.. guess I need to contact them though. I have 46-0004-5's and the recall says 46-0004-4.

Note that this recall is nothing new, but somehow has just come to light! First recall was 2009 and then 2015.

Thanks.  I have one and used it earlier today with the car.  It took several tried to get it to work, but fortunately it did.  Huge mess and a lot to clean and some things to replace.

A Question.  My issue happened when trying to start the flooded car.  It backfired and ignited, and I was not able to get it to crank over again to pull things into the engine, so out came the extinguisher.  After the fact, I wondered if a fire in the carb could be put out with something else that would smother it.  I did not have the air cleaner on at the time  :slap: because I was trying to see what was stopping it from starting and checking the carb.

Science is just observation and hypothesis.  Policy stands in the way.........

Or maybe it protects us.

I suppose it depends on the specific case.....

I have 3 out of 4 in my house that have been recalled. The one in my Charger is also recalled. Went to there website and already put in a claim.

I had 5 in my house and 4 were on the recall list.  They sent me replacement  #1 two weeks ago.  I returned it and they sent me replacement #2 last week.   I returned it, and I expect to get replacement #3 next week.

Thanks for the post. I have 4 replacements coming.  Do you send them back charged or can you practice being a Fireman and return them discharged?
