I am trying to ID this purple shaft cam with no luck , hopefully someone here will know what it is .
The numbers on the end  252872 , I have measured the lift at the lifter with a dial gauge .300 IN  .315 EX
I cant find any info on the net , it came out of a 440 and I am not sure weather to put it back in or not...
Would anyone know the specs for this ?

Try looking at the Jegs site and see if you can match it up. If it has hydraulic lifters, that narrows is down to half.

Those are lobe lift numbers? That would be a .675/ .708 valve lift cam.

torqueflite

Sorry I mucked up .. lobe lift .300 IN   .315 EX
Valve lift .450 IN  .472 EX
Yes hyd lifters and purple paint between the first section of lobes with a yellow dot .
I have looked everywhere trying to match , no luck.

Its probably an old 268 grind. Only way to know for sure is degree it.

torqueflite

Your right, so I have degreed it and come up with this, @.050  223 IN  226 EX    and @.006  278 IN  298 EX
Its a single bolt cam . still cant find info matches up evan close , I starting to wonder if it a custom ...
I dont know weather to use it or not
Do you recon it would be ok in a 440 zero deck with 906 heads and HP exhaust manifolds ?

I think that MP may have used 0.008" for their advertised numbers.   This might get the intake number close to what makes sense, but the exhaust seems high still.

I figured it out using .008 duration ... its a 440: Stock Hydraulic P4452783  not sure how I came up with the other numbers but all good now sussed it , I dont think I will use it ...
prob use Lunati 60302 , cheers!!

Thats why they say measure it, then measure it again, then once you are sure- measure it again. Lol.

Well, these are some of the details that kinda matter that are overlooked.  Particularly when comparing cams.  Using 0.008" is not not conventional, but MP sometimes does it, and it makes a huge difference on the numbers.  On a typical slow ramp lobe the 0.002" difference in measurement (0.006" vs 0.008") can be 8° in duration.  This is why the MP cams always seem to be more cam than the numbers suggest.  Its because they are.
