First, I'm running a basic Windows 10 laptop.
Second, I've got photos of my car in various states of restoration and would like to share them.
Three, every photo is too dang big to post.
Four, I don't want to fiddle around with each photo of trying to make it fit.
Five, WHAT is out there where I can select a bunch of photos at once, and then say "make them this big"
Six, thanks

Download Irfanview.    Free and very easy to use.   Can do a bulk resize on multiple pics at one time.

make sure to "copy" each one first, or your originals will be forever degraded. a few sites will automatically create the duplicate

Do you have "Windows Live Photo Gallery" on you computer?  It's a standard part of Windows 10.  You may have it even if there is no Icon on the home page.  I like it for a couple of reasons.

#1.  it is what I have.
#2.  it renames the reduced size picture as something like "DC20199 (900 x 675).JPG".  If you haven't had problems with the following error

"Sorry! There is already an attachment with the same filename as the one you tried to upload. Please rename the file and try again."

then you'll shortly find out why this is important.

#3.  it creates a new file of specified size and leaves your original file unchanged.

Just find the file you want to reduce in the file list, right click, set the dimension you want ( I use 900 and it always fits with nice resolution), save and go on to the next one.  It takes about 3 seconds.

Biggest drawback is that I have not found a way of doing bulk changes.

Thank you!

For the 200kb limit I set the wide side to 1024 and jpg quality to 80%. For the auto rename I just add "_1024" to the original file name and save it to a folder called "small" in the directory where the originals are. Here are some screenshots of this setup.

....I thought it had recently been increased to a 400 kb limit. Happened right after Photobucket did the dirty. :shruggy:

It has, I just haven't changed my resize settings in Irfanview to make bigger files. 1024x7678 pictures have plenty of resolution and detail for a web page. I don't really feel the need to upload pictures so large that people have to scroll sideways to see everything.
