I am building a Superbird clone at my job. Can someone tell me how the factory installed the cardboard package tray? does it just lay on the old curved window channel? Installed this way the edge will be about 2 inches in the window area on the plug. Thanks for any help

It does go over the original window channel. I purchased a repo package tray from R.E.M. It came straight with no bend in it. It also seemed to have a heavier insulation padding on the bottom. I ended up trimming some of the insulation padding off the area were it bends. It fits pretty nice but be careful not to force it to bend. If you force it you may crack it. Hope that helps.
