Can I bend the turn signal lever...?

I'm going with a new steering wheel.  It's identical to the Grant one that I have now, except that it's wood grain.  For some reason it's about 1/2" closer to the lever and my fingers can brush against it when turning.  Assuming I can easily remove it by loosening the one screw that goes through the switch, can it be bent just a tiny bit?  I'm not sure what metal it's made with and am afraid it will just snap.....

Going out to the shop in a few minutes. I'll look at mine and how the lower end is swagged / bent. Shouldn't be an issue tweaking it a bit straighter by tightening up in a small vice, but I'll look to see if anything would prevent that. It's the same metal as the horn ring, not pot metal.

LOL... I just ran in from the shop, got involved and forgot to get back to you. No reinforcement "boss" at the bend, so as you know it should bend just fine!!   :2thumbs:
