Hi All ,
Happy to join the Mopar family with my 1970 base 318 Charger  .
It has a 68 or 69 stock 440 swap in it .
Stamped D 440
Has a 71 440 stock intake manifold from what I can tell .
Ordering a Proform 850 carburetor for it .
It has an Edelbrock on it , neighbor wants to put a Holley on it but I am going with the street series Proform 67214.
I found it while on a road trip and on the way home stopped asked if it was potentially for sale .
Looking forward to the snow melting and putting some miles on it !
I'm new to Mopars so any input / advice / links for parts etc is appreciated .
Thank you
Jason

Welcome to the forum. Advice on where to buy parts can be given when you tell us what you need. ;)

thanks guys, i'll have to resize them i guess , too big ???

Welcome,  I look forward to seeing it and learning more about it.  Unless I am mistaken, the proform is based on the Holley with a few minor changes, but many interchangeable parts.  I have heard they run well.
Who in their right mind would say

"The science should not stand in the way of this."?

Science is just observation and hypothesis.  Policy stands in the way.........

Or maybe it protects us.

I suppose it depends on the specific case.....

Did you score it for a good price?
Finding a car out on a road trip by chance tends to be open to all possibilitys so now you have me wondering.

70Charger5150

I can't upload them , i guess they are too large , i'll try and re-size them .
It was a nice day out and I pulled into the driveway and said " You know I have to ask about the Charger , is it for sale ? "
He said probably in the spring , I asked what he was thinking of asking ....we chatted , I got the sellers contact info and left .
I got about 10 minutes down the road and said to myself , how am I driving away from a running 1970 440 Charger for only $$$$$ ????
So I turned around and left him a deposit and couldn't get a trailer until a few days later !
That was a LONG wait , as it was a busy road too ! I wanted to stuff it out back , lol !
I really stopped looking at muscle cars in general due to the prices .
It has rust in various corners , the shelter collapsed on it , but it will look and sound just fine going down the road this summer . Stoked to own it !
Yeah , I'd say it was a pretty good price seeing what non running , or no motor , shot interior base 318 chargers go for   :icon_smile_big:
My Mom told my cousin about the car ( her and husband are doing a GTO over ) and she said " that's my favorite muscle car ! Ask him if it has a Hemi "
I got a good laugh out of that .
Thank you all for the replies

I'm in Connecticut.
Thanks guys ,  I'm trying to order some misc parts for it .
Passenger mirror
Antenna ( probably just find a delete kit )
Radio bezel but from one found the radio looks like 68 / 69 ?
Also an ash tray cover .
Is this the " rallye dash " ?
Is the " D " 440 stamped on the front of motor make it a 68 block ?
Thank you for the help
I'll post the bad tomorrow now that I figured it how to make little photos .

70 Charger only had the thumb wheel radio if they had the AM/8 track version
If it is just straight AM or AM/FM it should be the round knobs to look original

Thanks guys ! ( thank u for fixing pics  Vegas) When I see the car in the garage I'm still surprised I own one !
Today I drove an 1 1/2 for a nice used trunk for it and the V10 ate a serp belt ...5 miles from the destination ....got the belt , bad power steering pulley ...no go....NO TRUNK !
I Have to drive back down , I pay pal'd him the $ from the side of the road lol , oh well , stoked to have found a nice trunk for it
Just trying to collect parts for it , ash tray cover , correct radio , right mirror , antenna ....
Where are some of the preferred parts places ?
Also is the dual snorkel air cleaner the correct one for the 1970 ?

You're welcome. :2thumbs:

If you get the correct radio are you going to keep the 8 track unit? Sell it?

I might be interested.

Your picture of radio is not an 8 track
On an 8 track to have enough room there are no station selector buttons as that is where the 8 track part is mounted in the radio

70 Charger radio is just round nobs and not thumb wheel
BUT
If you had 8 track in a 70 Charger the factory just used the older style 69 radio with the thumb wheel and did not make a new knob 8 track radio
