Ah man.... Did Plymouth make 500 "wind deflector" Road Runners in 1969?  :icon_smile_big:

Sort of a funny picture.   The wind deflectors are going to make that much difference when the front end has the aerodynamics of a brick?

Yes, but look at what has been done to the front end.    Fine mesh screen on everything, or holes completely blocked.    Grille and headlight trim brought flush to the max.  Bumper is raised tight to the bottom of the grille and tight to the rear.   This is an ARCA car, and you could get away with a little more there.  They are stacking nickels, aero wise.

In some instances, ARCA would let you get away with some crazy home brewed streamlining.  :o   This is from Talladega.

Les doesn't look to happy in the cockpit.

Is this shot better?   :P

odcics2

Improved.
Note the fit by the upper windshield piece.  If your Daytona or 500 looks better, it's wrong!

Its great as long as you don't have cars dropping down to 20mph on the banking. I have had it happen at both Richmond and Charlotte, some people's ass tightens up in the turns. :RantExplode:

I find it funny, having done Chelsea's top lane with no hands on the wheel.

Was there a limit to your speed or was it  "let it all hang out"?

Was during an open house in 1988. I drove my '87 Omni, not knowing the high bank would be open.  The 2.2 5 speed maxed out at over 120.  Not sure how much, since the speedo needle was coming around.  My passenger was my dad and he was white knuckled, hanging onto door pull.  Other cars were at the bottom of the turn.
I know it took 120 in the top lane to be able to let go of the wheel and not have the car drop off the banking.

Fun times.
