Is it possible to polish glass that is stained? My car has been sitting in a barn since 74 and it has some weird stain on the back window. Looks like something was dripping on it. Ive used a medium cut cleaner and high speed buffer which seems to smooth some of it out but the stain is still there.
Suggestions?

If the glass is really stained or etched then you're probably out of luck.  But, Glass really doesn't stain.  I would start by taking a single edge razor blade and try to scrape off the material in one spot.  If that works, then you know you have something sitting on the surface of the glass and then try other things.  But, I would try the razor blade first.

If it's some kind of mineral buildup, you might try a rag soaked in vinegar and leave it on the area for a while.
