Hello,

I have a 318 with a 3 speed auto and when I'm simply cruising around town, the transmission stays in 1st gear way too long before shifting to the 2nd. And it's the same thing with the 2nd gear.

How can I adjust that?

Thanks

John_Kunkel

Stock carb and linkage or aftermarket carb? If aftermarket carb does it have the correct Mopar throttle lever adapter and correct linkage? If not, the trans will never shift correctly.

If all the parts are correct, shortening the top linkage rod will make the trans shift earlier.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

It's a Holley carb, but it was on my 74 Charger and shifting was just fine.

I'll take a look at the linkage rod. Thanks.

Well, it turned out that the link from the carb to the transmission was in two parts, and that those two parts had popped apart. I never thought to look because on my 74 it was one long piece from the top of the engine to the transmission.

Thanks.
